We just got a new car and new car seat and we were looking for something to help us keep the car from being utterly destroyed (like the last one) by the antics of our 3.5 year old. You know, food, drinks, bathroom accidents... So far this has held up nicely and works for all of those things. It's also easily removable from the car (once you get the car seat out) to just shake out if you only have crumbs on it. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps slits on the bottom (for those who have car seats) for the latch system to go through so it can be spread out as far as possible and not so scrunched up around the latches.
