The instruction booklet is good. I am not a expert seamstress by any means- and I have used the machine for craft projects and making children's clothing (the stretch stitches work great). I am not sure it is up to sewing heavy fabric- but this is not something I am doing now- so it's not any issue. Lots of diffrent stiches to choose from easy to figure out . Comes with easy instructions and theres plenty of videos online with easy to follow instructions for the exact machine, if you aren't able to understand them to well. It work very smoothly so far . I love it so much . Highly recommend, especially if you're new to sewing it's easy to use for beginners. The tension seem good as well and if you test it on a peice of scrap fabric first anytime you start a project and are messing around with the tension it's pretty easy to use and figure out.
