These catches were purchased for an RV to hold cabinets closed. I though 40 Lbs would be a little much but not with these lame magnets. Once mounted, I connected a trigger pull gage (for testing gun triggers down to the gram) and found a maximum of 9 Lbs. 8 oz of pull was all these crap magnets can take to pop right open. Once again, poor and inaccurate product descriptions from Amazon sellers.
