I believe that it's the vegetal, sweet/spicy, patchouli and earthy, bitter coffee notes working together on my skin to give it depth. On clothes and apparel this unleashes its faint peppermint and fresh bergamot accords. I found out I was addicted to this fragrance when I kept spraying it on myself to understand the notes and it is quite linear and unchanging on my skin but very strong and tasty. This isn't the case, as "Debutant" has none of the fruity/berry notes that are very noticeable in "Pure Malt". However, this fragrance does smell very similar to "A Men" by Mugler. Caramel and patchouli are the prevalent notes, which lines it up with "A Men". If you want "A Men" on the cheap, this does a great job in the scent/longevity/projection categories.
