My LG WM3455HW washer/dryer combo stopped draining the water from washes. I thought this was going to be a several hundred dollar repair bill. I’m glad I purchased this and decided to repair it myself. The entire process took about an hour or so. It’s pretty straightforward if you have instructions for your model washer. Mine was slightly more complicated than the normal LG washers due to having an extra bottom panel. If I had to do it all over again I can probably knock it all in 30 minutes. The only tools required are screwdrivers and a big pair of pliers. The only thing I would recommend is that when you do tackle this repair, MAKE SURE THE WASHER IS FULLY DRAINED!!!! Trying to fix this with water leaking out every you move a part was really annoying, especially if the water has been sitting there for a while and spells putrid! The issue, my washer/dryer stopped draining and would make a whining noise. When I was able to finally take out the old pump, I discovered that the pump motor was fine but it was just the pump propeller that snapped off so that the motor was spinning but it wasn’t connected to anything to push the water. It’s too bad since most other reviews for this part show the same problem. A more sturdy propeller pin would have significantly improved the longevity of this part. The part itself came in an LG box so it was a genuine part. Since pulling this apart was time consuming, I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a cheap third party part. The new motor worked immediately and the sound seems slightly different and quieter.

Worked great! I’ve ordered this part three times from Amazon over the years to repair two different machines and the part I most recently got looked slightly different from the others; it was gray instead of black and had four blades on the circular turning center instead of three. I believe LG has updated this part. I wanted to leave a review so purchasers will know that this is still the correct part even if it looks different than what is pictured (as long as the model number is the same). It worked great for me and I’m hoping this updated part is an improvement on the previous ones. The part number matched the number listed in the listing and came in an LG branded box.

easy replacement. fit perfectly and works well. good quality and excellent price. buy a pair of the “outer tub spring pliers” to make the job the job much easier - it’s very difficult to get the spring back on around the tub seal without them.

3/4/2024: It's too early to know if this pump was worth the extra $20 over other brands. Time will tell. If it has any problems, I'll update this. But for now, nothing to complain about. It takes 7-10 years to know if it is a good pump. If it doesn't last at least 7 years, then I would say it's not a good pump. If it lasts 10-12 years, I would say it's a great pump. It comes in a genuine LG box for about $45, which I assume it is exactly what LG puts in their machines. I had no problems installing it. It's hard to think of anyways it could have been easier or harder to install. It definitely sounds just like a new machine again! I figured since I am saving a bunch of $ by doing the lob myself for the 1st time on any machine, it might be worth the extra $20 to guarantee it fits and sounds like I expect it to sound. However, maybe I should have tried a highly rated 3rd party pump since it is probably the #1 problem most people have to fix on LG machines. The previous one lasted about 6 years, which isn't very long. However, I have a high-end washer/dryer combo machine (Model# WM3997HWA) that eats up drain pumps when using the dry cycle a lot. The original pump already sounded suspect when I bought it after being used a lot to dry after 2 years. The original pump lasted another 4 years with almost NO use of the dryer function. I do not plan to use the dryer function more than about 1/mo in the future because I have a good dryer. If you're doing the job yourself, use the "top-down" approach and DON'T try to do it using the access hole in the bottom of the machine like many "pros" are showing on Youtube these days. You can’t see what you are doing and there are bolts, screws, several water tubes, and wires you can’t see or access from underneath. The “top down” approach looks like it is much harder, but it is actually faster than you would think, and faster than doing it from the bottom unless you do it all the time. And you don’t need another person to help move this extremely heavy machine using the top-down method. I did the entire job myself and was able to do almost all of it with tools from Dollar Tree using the top-down approach. If you want to save yourself a WORLD OF PAIN, spend $14 on Amazon to get a pair of “spring expanders” for an LG front loader (see pics). The spring that holds the rubber drum boot to the front of the machine is extremely difficult to get off and almost impossible to get back on without spring expanders. With them, what would take 10 minutes and lots of frustration just to get off, takes about 30 seconds with spring expanders. And it only takes about 60 seconds, instead of hours, to get it back on with spring expanders. If you get those, you can replace the pump in a day. Also, don't forget there is a good probability you will have to get that rubber boot off and on more than once if it turns out you have a leak, the power isn't working properly, or many other reasons you can't think of. Since it is by far the hardest part of the job without spring expanders, you want to make it the easiest part for $14.

Did not come in an LG box but not a big deal to me. The part number matches what I need BUT the pump had an extra ledge on the back that made it impossible to slide the protective cover over it. I modified the cover with a little snipping and managed to make it work. So far, after cleaning out the lint trap and and water outlet at top of door (both were badly gunked up after years of use!) and then replacing the pump it is running like new. Everything was done by following DIY videos online. No tech needed. Saved a LOT of money. Yay! Update: just over a year later and the pump has failed. Not sure it's the pump's fault exactly as I discovered I had hoses that were horribly blocked up and could have burned out the poor drain pump. After clearing everything out of the hoses, tub is still not draining. I will never buy an LG combo washer/dryer again. These things are nothing but trouble! Guess I will contact LG directly and get an OEM part. Perhaps that would help? At this point I'm ready to take my clothes to a creek and smack em on a rock to get them clean!

I had been receiving the dreaded OE error on my LE WM2010CW intermittently for some time. I was able to unplug the washer to reset it or clean out the filter and be back in business. However, the last time the error arose, I could not get the machine to finish a cycle and manually draining the machine has pretty much ruined my wood floor. Like others, I did some reasearch and determined the nature of the OE error--the drain pump had failed. Before ordering the part, I was confident there were no blockages and I watched several YouTube videos of others making this repair and was confident I could handle the task. The process of installing the pump after disconnecting and draining the machine is to remove the screws holding the cover of the machine, (located on the back of the unit), sufficiently removing the front control panel to get access to the screws holding on the front panel of the unit, removing the spring clamp securing the door gasket, the door sensor connector and eventually the pump. Washing machines aren't that complicated. I found my unit disassembled slightly differently from the YouTube videos. If a part wasn't coming off, locate what is keeping it on (usually a hidden screw) until everything is out of the way. The hoses and harnesses for the pump came off pretty easily and i and I used the opportunity while the unit open to clean out the inside, which had accumulated some grime and soap that I presume overflowed from the detergent drawer. The pump itself was easy to replace and overall, the process was pretty intuitive once I understood how to get inside. I was able to do the entire job with a Phillips screwdriver and a set of pliers. I was concerned about replacing the spring clamp that holds the gasket for the main door. It took a little bit of adjusting but forming rings with zip ties to pull the spring instead of the special LG pliers worked great for me. I also learned that the polarity of the motor connection doesn't matter when you replace the connecting wires (but I marked them when I took them off just in case). Delighted with the outcome. My washer works perfectly now. If you can use a screwdriver and are organized and methodical to keep track of the screws and the order of things, this is a doable job. Hardest part was I stacking and moving the washer out of the laundry room so I could access it. The actual dismantling, installation and reassembly took a little over an hour and it I had to do it a second time, I could probably handle the job in 40 minutes. Sure I saved at least $300 doing this myself and did not have to wait around for a service call.
