Easy Install, Works Perfect, Just As Described! *by H***R on September 17, 2024* This is my third time setting up a truck/camper with an isolator. The first two were with those bulky ones with diodes, voltage drops and a big ugly heat sink. This time I thought I'd try a starter solenoid. I bought a solenoid here on Amazon and there was a scary warning about it getting hot. Some customers had a problem with heat but others didn't so I thought I'd give one a try. WRONG! Within 5 minutes it was too hot to touch. Then I found this isolator for a similar price. Returned the solenoid, bought and installed this isolator. These isolators that function off battery voltage must be new since I never heard of them before. Another nice thing is you don't have to find a key-on ignition source to splice into ... typical with other isolators and solenoids. My only complaint is there were no installation instructions in the package. There is an extra skinny black wire coming out of the back of this unit and I had no idea what it is or what to do with it. Turns out it's just a ground wire that can be hooked up to any ground in the vehicle.
