One very interesting game and one neat little sub game
It's surprisingly very difficult to describe these two games accurately.I'll start with the box. It's honestly no different from any other game box though doesn't feel quite as sturdy to me for some reason. Both games come on one disc and have separate installers, so it's not as simple as installing other games you might find on here, though it's not exactly difficult either.A Drug That Makes You Dream is very obviously the feature presentation, so I'll review it first. It's a game that I can only really describe as strange. It's not the "lol so random memes memes memes" strange like you'd find on Steam either, but rather the kind of strange that will both make you somewhat uncomfortable and want to keep playing at the same time. It's like watching conspiracy theory television shows; the ideas presented in them are laughably stupid at times and yet you have to keep watching because it's just so intriguing. All the characters make you feel as though you're the only one in the world who isn't on several forms of drugs at once and yet the character you play as is also the one who has these incredibly strange dreams which would send you flying out of bed in a cold sweat if you had them in reality; which makes me question if he's really the one on drugs. The interactions you have with them range anywhere from your classmates starting rumors that you're into scat to your friends asking if you're attempting a double-suicide alone to being groped by a gay man and apparently enjoying it to meeting a fairy girl sleeping on some garbage who begs you for food. This doesn't mean it's a bad game in any way, however. The art style is quite appealing, the music is alright and the UI retains most of it's Japanese text with English written next to it which is far better than completely overhauling it as some games do. And though the sanity of the whole thing is DEFINITELY in question, you can still relate to many of the problems characters go through. The translation is actually really good, the only issue being the occasional "feel" rather than "felt" and things like that. It shows the same quality JAST USA seem to deliver quite often. Now, onto Little My Maid. This game is very different to the other. It seemed to come packaged with it since it could fit on the disk and just sweeten the deal and is more of a selling point than it is a feature. It has far more of a perverted focus than ADTMYD. While it can take quite a while to get anywhere with the girls in that game, in Little My Maid, you jump right into H scenes with one of the maids being raped. You save her, (because if you don't, I'm not sure why you're still breathing,) and she takes you to a mansion that houses 3 maids, a head maid and the owner. Long story short, they invite you to stay and you have 3 bells which allow you to call upon any of the maids when you need something. And when I say "need something" I actually mean sex, because you're only presented with two options, one to ask for comfort and the other to ask to use her sexually, but both lead to an H scene since apparently asking for comfort is the same as asking for her to strip down and blow you. This game is basically a harem fantasy that I'm sure plenty of men have had where they're swept off to a place filled with women who will do whatever they desire simply because they desire it.It seems to be an older title. The color pallet makes it feel a little bit like a SNES game and the sound even sounds sort of like something you'd hear on the original Playstation.Graphically, the game is unique. It doesn't feature the same high detail characters most anime visual novels do and almost feels like a very well made community project. It is still quite appealing to look at, though, and the little idle animations like the maids blinking while waiting for you and actually moving their mouths while speaking make the game feel way more alive than I thought it would ever seem. The music is acceptable, nothing amazing but not at all bad. The voices are kind of dodgy in that the owner and head maid's voices both make me feel kind of uncomfortable while the maids themselves have some of the cutest voices I think I've ever heard in a visual novel/dating sim.Is the game worth playing? It's hard to say. You have to really like H scenes that you know you're going to get no matter the choices you make and since you can choose one of the maids to be with for the rest of your life, it can be finished within probably a couple hours of play. Still, I got a lot of laughs out of the banter while I played and seriously, who hasn't had this fantasy at some point?A Drug That Makes You Dream - 7/10 - A little far out there for the average player to enjoy yet still really fun and slightly addicting.Little My Maid - 6/10 - Short and not a huge amount of meaningful content, but still enjoyable. It's definitely worth the price if you're looking for a couple visual novels to add to your library, but not at all good as an introduction to them as a whole.
