Excellent Gift for Mastectomy Recovery + Suggestions for Improvement
I bought this pillow for my mom for a unilateral mastectomy, and she's been holding onto it since she got into the recovery room post-op. The filling in the pillow is soft and the material smooth, which helps relieve the weight of her arm over the incision area. The loops on either side are good for holding the pillow in place. Ultimately, I am so glad I got this for her, it's made her recovery process significantly more comfortable, and the small size makes it optimal for travelling home from the hospital. Overall, I would certainly recommend it to anyone else who may have a loved one in need of this procedure--I'd even go so far as to say it would be a wonderful thing for hospitals to provide for mastectomy patients as a standard. While I do love this product, I do have a couple of suggestions that may make this product even better: Due to the smooth fabric, the pillow is a little slippery, and occasionally falls out of my mom's grip when she sleeps or gets up to move around. I was able to tie a sash around the loops so my mom could wear it like a cross-body purse with the pillow situated under her arm (for anyone who may find this quick-fix useful). Adding a sash that comes with the pillow so that a patient can wear it or a pocket to insert a cool pack would definitely make this product even better.

Would have been a five star, except...
These pillows are GREAT! Really helped my daughter through her bi-lateral mastectomy. My only problem is in their construction, unfortunately she tried to remove the tag as it bothered her and she inadvertently opened a seam. The filling flew out and there was no putting it back as the tiny pellets are lighter than air (hence their soft feel). I did manage to carefully sew up the seam, but had there been an inner lining this would not have happened. That's my suggestion - please add an inner liner! Thank you.

Works fine, but awful smell that wouldn't leave!
Worked fine for what I needed, but they had such a strong awful, plasticky smell that never went away even after weeks, I stopped using these as soon as I was able.

Sent from heaven
I used these following my mastectomies. I had other heart shaped pillows made or given to me and these are made out of something amazing. Lightweight itty bitty beads of something inside that conform exactly to my arms. They are silky soft and absolutely perfect. You use them to prop your arms slightly so that the post mastectomy drains don’t pull and the incisions feel better. This will be the gift I get anyone undergoing this same procedure. I absolutely love them and think they are worth the money. Buy two. One for each arm.

Too hard and large
Bought this for sleeping. Hoping it would support my reconstructed breast. It was too hard. Too large. I opened it and let much of the beads out. But it did not help. I could not bend it to my shape. Could not use it.

Small hole. White stuff escaping
Only opened after radiation first I thought I did not need it. Five treatments later. I do. But the pillow is defective. Very tiny tiny puncture.

Perfect for masectomy recovery
These are a must have after mastectomy. I bought two. I took them to the hospital, and they never left my sides while I recovered from surgery. I kept them tucked in at my sides days, nights, in the car, in the waiting rooms at appointments, and I walked around with them at my sides. They provided great and necessary comfort.

Amazon support for double mastectomy
These pillows were recommended by a blog by a woman who had a double mastectomy. I was searching for items to help a friend who was also having the procedure. Although she had no idea what they were when I gave them to her, she claims that they were her “lifeline” after her procedure. They are the perfect size, feel good on incisions, and have loops to hold them.
