A treasure trove of Disney Comics from various eras!
Disney properties have had a long history of comics, most famously stories based on Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. But here we have a large sampling of comics based on Disney's animated features starring princesses: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Mulan, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled and Brave. Each of these movies has a movie comics adaptation reprinted here, some of them created for non-US comics markets and translated for the US. Some were printed in the early 90s when Disney Comics existed as its own company, others were from when Marvel had a license from Disney to create and publish adaptations and stories based on those films. There are also other comics telling more stories of the characters. As someone who enjoyed comics from that era thanks to my father, I was delighted to see the prequel comics for The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast included. The Little Mermaid's comics were so successful they also did a four-issue Sebastian spin-off, but those aren't included here. Aladdin received a 2-issue original sequel detailing Jafar and Iago breaking out of the Cave of Wonders and returning to antagonize our friends from Agrabah, but that story isn't included here, instead going for more recent adaptations of the direct to video sequels "The Return of Jafar" and "The King of Thieves." (The latter was adapted to comics by Marvel, but that particular adaptation is not the one used here.) There's also a couple surprise old-time comics from Walt Disney's Comics and Stories with further adventures for Cinderella and Snow White. However, despite old-time comics adaptations of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty existing, they went for more recent adaptations. (I enjoyed those older ones as a child as they included scenes that weren't in the movie.) For $20 or less (and I paid much less), this is pretty great value considering how much the original comics would cost if you found them. Still, there's much more comics of this ilk that could be reprinted: Marvel had spin-off series based on The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin and when they canceled them and just printed one monthly comic that had shorter stories or one book length story, new Pocahontas stories also appeared. (They also had spin-off comics for The Lion King and Toy Story, but these are outside of the scope of this collection.) But at nearly 800 pages, you can't complain that this collection isn't jam-packed. I just hope that someday, more of those delightful comics might be reprinted for new generations.

My 8 year old loves this
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter. We haven't shown her many Disney movies because of content, but she loves to read books and even though this is a comic book she loves it. It's a great intro to Disney movies if you aren't ready to show them to your children.

Good Book
This is a great way to get your Disney fill without watching a movie. And this book is thick! 800 pages thick.
