I got two of these for my retro AMD Athlon XP socket A machine. Both work with more modern SATA dvdrom and Blu-ray drives like a charm !

this adapter helped with my retro gaming PC made finding hard drives much easier so I bought another one for my sun blade 100 this adapter is excellent quality I plan on buying another one soon.

Perfect for OG Xbox 1TB HDD upgrade.
Perfect for OG Xbox 1tb HDD upgrade. Running for a year now with no issues. Love the extra connector for when you need to copy the drive, saved me the cost of an extra adapter. Don’t buy the cheap crap, get the good stuff.

Good for PCs, not great for Xbox
Works perfect for connecting SATA drives to IDE PCs but for Original Xboxes it has a few issues.Boot speeds were noticably slower than stock with a 1tb Western Digital HDD, and the DVD drive stopped recognizing discs as well. This behavior went away after going back to the original hard drive and ditching the adapter.I don't think it's StarTech's fault that the adapter didn't work exactly how I hoped. It's a quality product and I'm using it for a VERY niche use case.

Works great with the Original XBOX. The OG Xbox recognizes the SSD that I am using for the softmod. No problems

Exactly what I needed.
My CD-ROM drive died in my old Pentium III WIndows 98 gaming PC and replacement IDE drives are expensive these days, that is if you can still find a new one. I had plenty of SATA drives collecting dust and this allowed me to install one so I could play my old games again. It was easy to install and worked immediately. No drivers were necessary.While it clears the rear of the drive by a few millimeters I still put a piece of electrical tape on it so it couldn't short out by touching the drive. I doubt that there would be any issues but I felt better about it using the tape. It shouldn't move once installed but you never know.I have purchased several other StarTech devices over the years and have been happy with all of them. They make quality products.
