Not snake oil—actual results if you’re consistent with the routine
I grabbed this Photozyme serum through Vine for my wife. Skincare is usually a world of snake oil and overpriced water, but this stuff is actually doing the work. She’s been using it for a while now, and the results are impressive—her skin tone is much more even and her face is noticeably smoother. Don’t expect some overnight miracle. This isn't for people who just slap stuff on their face once every three days and wonder why they still have wrinkles. You have to be consistent and make it a dedicated part of a nightly routine. She started seeing real improvements in tone and texture after about a week, and she’s seeing continued results the longer she uses it. The "Real World" Proof: My wife liked the results so much that she actually went out and picked up more of it herself during a Mother’s Day sale. When someone is willing to drop their own cash on a $115 bottle after g If you’re serious about your nightly facial care and want a non-irritating retinol that actually smooths things out, this is a winner.etting the first one for free, you know it’s a high-performing product. Yeah, at over a hundred bucks, it’s pricey. But given the ingredients—specifically the DNA repair enzymes and the 1% retinol—it is absolutely worth the spend. It’s priced in-line with other high-end professional serums, but unlike some of those, this one actually delivers on the "dark spot" and "fine line" claims. It’s a good value because it isn't a waste of money. Rating Scale: 5 Stars: Exceeds expectations in both build quality and value proposition. 4 Stars: Meets expectations; a reliable product with a reasonable value prop. 3 Stars: Average. Functional but contains design compromises or mediocre value. 2 Stars: Poor. Significant flaws, durability issues, or fails to meet primary claims. 1 Star: Avoid. Non-functional, defective, or dangerously misrepresented.

Smooth Retinol Serum With a Silky Texture
I've been focusing on taking better care of my skin after decades of neglect. I have maturing skin and have noticed some fine lines around my eyes and a few age spots that I've wanted to address. I've used a few products with retinol and liked the results. I've wanted to add a retinol serum to my routine, so I ordered this "DNA Repair Enzymes GFS Plus Facial Night Serum | 1% Retinol for Aging Skin, Beauty Skincare Treatment for Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Acne Scars" by Photozyme. When the serum arrived, I couldn't find a manufacturing or expiration date on the box or bottle, but both are labeled as made in the USA. The bottle is plastic. Once I primed the pump, it consistently draws serum. It was a little hard for me to read the information on the box because the printed text was white against an orange background. The instructions are simple. You wash and dry your face, apply the serum at night, and then moisturize. The instructions say to start using the serum two to three times per week and work up to nightly. When I started using this serum, I'd already been using a product with retinol, so I began using it nightly. The instructions didn't mention using toner, but I've continued to use it immediately after washing my face and before applying the retinol and that's been working great for me. I've been using the serum for the last week and it hasn't caused any irritation. The serum is smooth and silky and the texture reminds me a little of petroleum jelly. It glides easily across my skin. It's a little slower to absorb than some other products I've tried. It doesn't leave any sticky residue and while I wouldn't describe the texture as greasy, I can feel the serum sitting on the surface of my skin for a short time after application. I'm fragrance sensitive and this hasn't caused any issues for me. The serum seems to have a blend of floral and citrus aromas. It smells fresh and clean to me. The fragrance lingers a bit longer than I'd prefer, but it isn't too strong or intrusive. I've only been using this serum for a week and so far I'm happy with its performance. My skin responds well to hyaluronic acid and it seems like I'm seeing a little improvement in the fine lines around my eyes. I can't speak to long term results yet. At the time of my order, 1.7 oz of 1% retinol costs $115, which places it at a luxury price point.

Love it
I use this at night and my skin is softer and the age spots are improved. It absorbs very quickly. I will be reordering this.

Luxe serum with solid ingredients and no fragrance
This is definitely a luxury retinol serum, but you're getting more than just the elegant silky skin feel (this is a silicone heavy product) and hydration with this serum. There are 3 types of retinol in this that make up the 1% concentration. There are also ceramides and cholesterol which help support the skin barrier. It's designed to slowly release the retinol which helps reduce irritation without compromising its effectiveness. It has no added fragrance which is great. It's not the same strength as a prescription retinoid, but could be a solid bridge product to building up tolerance to graduate to rx strength. I like that the company also offers a lower concentration serum in the same line if you want to start even slower and increase % gradually. I only use this a couple times per week as I'm on a prescription strength azaliec acid gel. So the 50ml bottle will last me some time! If you're new to retinol, start slow and patch test first. Results do take time and consistency, but Im hopeful based on what's offered in the formulation.

Gentle Yet Potent Night Serum
I’ve been using the Photozyme DNA Repair Enzymes GFS Plus Facial Night Serum with 1% Retinol for a little while, and it has a texture I genuinely enjoy. It comes in a pump bottle with a cellophane safety seal, dispensing a clear, medium-weight gel that spreads easily and absorbs quickly with no scent. I usually use stronger prescription retinoids, and even with that, this serum hasn’t caused any irritation or dryness, which speaks to how gentle the slow-release retinol is. If you’re new to retinol, I’d recommend starting slowly. The formula is impressively well-rounded. Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate draw moisture into the skin for hydration, while the ceramide complex—Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6 II, Ceramide 1—plus phytosphingosine and cholesterol help reinforce the skin barrier and maintain smooth, plump texture. Retinol, retinyl palmitate, and retinyl safflowerate work to stimulate collagen and elastin production, helping with fine lines, dark spots, and overall skin tone. There’s also lysophosphatidic acid, sodium lauroyl lactylate, and carbomer to stabilize and smooth the formula, while lecithin, micrococcus lysate, plankton extract, and tocopheryl acetate provide antioxidant protection, cellular support, and skin-soothing benefits. Ascorbyl linoleate gives a subtle brightening effect, leaving the skin looking refreshed and even. I like the texture and feel of the serum, but I haven’t yet noticed dramatic results that would make me switch from prescription options. That said, the formula is thoughtfully crafted, gentle, and hydrating, so it could be a good choice for someone looking for a non-irritating retinol product with multiple supportive ingredients. The price is higher than basic retinols but in line with other premium products. If I see added benefits after finishing the bottle, I’d consider purchasing again. Well Formulated Retinol Serum with Lightweight Feel
I decided to try this Photozyme GFS Plus Night Serum because I am familiar with retinol products and wanted to add one into my evening routine. This formula contains 0.5% retinol along with hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and vitamin E. I currently use it twice a week at night on my face, neck, and décolletage and follow with sunscreen during the day as recommended when using retinol products. The texture is lightweight, non-sticky, and absorbs quickly without feeling heavy. The airless pump dispenses smoothly and makes it easy to control the amount used. I have experienced some dryness in certain areas, so I space out applications accordingly but find the product to be very effective. The bottle feels substantial and well packaged. At $110 for 1.7 oz at the time of my review, it is definitely a premium priced product. However, the ingredient combination and overall formulation place it in a higher end skincare category. Overall, this is a thoughtfully formulated serum for those already comfortable incorporating retinol into their routine.
