Best Exercise Bike for Tall People - Tall Review
I’m am a taller guy at 6’2” and was looking for a sit down exercise bike that actually works for taller people. After searching everywhere and reading way too many reviews, I finally took a chance on the Marcy ME-709 Recumbent Exercise Bike. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier. This bike is a perfect fit for me and I’m confident it would work for anyone up to 6’7” or even 6’8” (See Video). What really stands out is how comfortable it is to ride being tall. A lot of exercise bikes don’t leave enough leg room for taller riders, but this one gives me full extension without feeling cramped. The seat is supportive, the backrest makes it easy on my lower back, and the pedals are well positioned. Setup was easy and I had it put together in under an hour with no problems. It’s also completely silent when riding, so I can use it early in the morning or late at night without disturbing anyone (3rd floor apartment). The bike is compact too, not taking up much space, which is a big plus. Other reasons I recommend the Marcy ME-709: Adjustable resistance so you can go from an easy spin to a harder workout Sturdy build that feels solid, even at my height Clear display for time, speed, distance, and calories Affordable price compared to other sit down exercise bikes (The best price and value from over a month of searching) If you’re a taller person looking for a sit down exercise bike, the Marcy ME-709 is absolutely worth it. Easy to assemble, quiet, comfortable, and with plenty of room for long legs, it checks every box I was looking for.

Affordable High Quality Recumbent Bike!
Long review, please read to the end of you're thinking about buying one of these bikes: So, just purchased this bike. I know it well as this one is replacing the same bike I purchased back in April 2013! The old one got heavily used over the past decade, in fact I flipped the Odometer 4 times! The bike was a big help to me as during that time I lost a total of 160lbs, the first 100lbs was by adjusting my diet alone after a while I plateaued, and it was recommended to me to add some cardio workouts to my life. I'm not into too going to the gym so I opted for at home equipment. This bike was what I selected and it really helped me to breakthrough and lose another 60lbs. I continued to use it on and off over the years. The old one still works, however the seat bracket cracked, seat is still on its just loose. Unfortunately, I gained back a good portion of the weight and being 10 years older in my late 50s now I've opted for weight loss surgery. That being said, I was advised once again to have some post surgery activities lined up, ones that I enjoy. I didn't give it a second thought, I hopped on Amazon, shopped some other brands and styles and settled on the Marcy ME709 for a second time! I mean, I used the crap out of the first one with no issues, the price was only slightly higher. So here I am 10 years later with a brand new one! It's virtually the same, they did upgrade the computer, it's easier to reset and the digits have a cool green glow now versus the LCD style the old one had. If you're on the fence buy this bike!!! It is super durable, great quality and very affordable, and not hard to assemble. Shout out to the Marcy Fitness folks, thank you for still making these available!

this is a pretty good piece of home exercise equipment
I am an experienced cyclist who rides for pleasure and for commuting every week on a real outdoor road bike. I also use indoor cycles at the gym and bought this to see if I could get some of my workouts at home. For the low price, this is a pretty good piece of home exercise equipment. The bike was reasonably simple to assemble in 40 minutes or so, it feels pretty solid when you sit on it, and the seat heights are adjustable enough to fit me as well as my 6'2" husband. The position of the seat almost directly overtop of the pedals is more ergonomic than some exercise bikes that put the pedals too far forward and strain the back. It is also completely silent. Easy to ride while watching netflix. ;) I can work up a good sweat at setting 6 in about 20 minutes, and keep it going for as long as I want. Note: If you are not a biker, you will think the seat is uncomfortable the first time you use it. If you use it regularly your muscles will get used to it, and you won't even feel it anymore. This is the case with all bike seats. The more you use, the less uncomfortable they feel. An incentive to keep up with it! 3 small complaints I have: 1) I'm 5'8" with long legs, a shorter torso, and long arms, and I find that the handlebars are way too low down for my liking. The low handles force you to bend forward farther than I want to, and I don't find the position natural from my experience on real road/racing bikes. You have to be careful not to round your lower back because of this constant bend. When I have been on the bike for more than 30 minutes, the position of the handlebars can sometimes become pretty annoying, and I find myself switching between all the hand positions as well as putting my hands on the tops of the handle ends in an attempt to elevate my torso a little (not designed for this). 2) The resistance of the pedals isn't the same all the way around the arc. I find that I have to push harder at some points around the circle the pedals make as they move, and if I keep pushing the same as I go around, other parts of the arc feel too easy and the pedal sort of slips forward until it hits the next hard part of the circle. It takes a bit of time to get used to this, but now that I am, I don't notice it much any more. Just still wish it was a smooth circle of even resistance. 3) The bike rocks a bit as you pedal. It's very slight, and you can change the footing a little by adjusting the end caps on the feet, but I still find that it's a teeny bit unsteady. On our wood floors this causes squeaking as the weight shifts minutely. It's not enough of a problem that I don't want to use the bike though, so overall still 4 stars. Might just depend on your floor.

Quality Product
This was well-packaged and the instructions were very clear about the assembly. My only concern, which was very minor, is that the wrench provided was not bent to a sufficient angle to avoid tearing the seat material when tightening the frontmost nut for the seat. It just needed an eighth of an inch to do it perfectly. My only other difficulty came when I was tightening the screws to secure the handlebars to the front post. There was plenty of thread in the post but it took more and more effort to turn the screws. I finally had to resort to adding the wrench to the Allen wrench to get enough leverage to fully tighten the screws. This problem could have been avoided had I used a thread chaser or tap to clear the threads in the front post. Otherwise, everything went smoothly. I inspected the pedal arm where the pedals are screwed into to see if it looked more substantial than my last bike which had the pedal arm break at the hole. This one had more metal and seems to be made in a stronger design. Plus, this time, I checked that the bike was rated for my weight. It honestly looks as though it is truly rated for 300 pounds. This is the first exercise bike that I have had that used magnetic resistance and I am very satisfied with its operation. The tension knob is calibrated and marked and features detents to make the tension choice precise. Then I was very surprised at how absolutely silent this bike operated. Not just quiet, but no sound whatsoever. And because I have to been able to get the proper amount of tension, my workout time has been shortened because I have to exert more effort during my fast-pedaling routines, thus getting me worked out better. I can now rest assured that my doctor's recommendation for my exercise routine will have the desired effect. I had never worked out before but upon examination, my doctor told me that he wanted me to go for a few minutes at a regular speed; then go for a minute at the best speed that I could muster; then repeat the sequence. This recommendation was because my heart's recovery rate was sub-optimal. With this bike, now I know that I am getting the proper work-out. And I feel that this bike will last a long time because it does not rely on friction to provide resistance. I am really happy with this purchase.

Perfect Exercise Bike on a Budget!
** EXCELLENT bike for the cost! I had been looking into buying an exercise bike for a couple of months, but I couldn't decide on which one! I saw that the Marcy Mag Cycle was only $125 on Amazon. I made sure to read as many reviews as I could because I thought the price was way too low. After reading reviews on Amazon and on other websites, I was confident that this bike was the right choice. I ordered it for $125, and the VERY NEXT DAY, the price went up to $200!!!! Now, it's $150. I bought it at the right time, lucky me! I have Amazon Prime, so I ordered it with the free 2-day shipping. It arrived at my house 2-3 weeks later, but earlier than the original expected delivery date. The packaging was fine, no problems. Unwrapping everything was a pain, but easily doable. Assembly: I am a 23 year old female, 120 pounds, and I was able to assemble this BY MYSELF. REPEAT: BY MYSELF. The directions recommend having 2 people assemble it, but I did it without a problem in 2 hours. I could have done it more quickly, BUT there was something wrong with one part - the computer wire was too short, so I had to literally manipulate this one part with a wrench. It's hard to explain without pictures, but let's just say whoever made that part did a horrible job. It made the assembly take 30 minutes longer than it should have. Despite all this, everything works fine. Exercise: -I started sweating after 10 minutes on Setting 2!!! One thing I was worried about when purchasing this bike was the level of resistance. I wondered if the resistance levels would be enough to give me a good workout. I couldn't believe how great the resistance on this bike is!!! At the gym, I would do Level 3-4, but on this bike, I break a sweat on Level 2... and then I change it to Level 3 when I want to work even harder. -This isn't the sturdiest bike ever... as in the front of the bike moves from side to side A BIT when I'm using it, but this may be because I'm using it on carpet. -This bike is SUPER SUPER QUIET. I watch TV while on it, and no one is disturbed or annoyed by that (except maybe by my panting). I LOOOOVE the lack of noise coming from the bike. "Computer:" -I keep it on the time setting. I don't trust the calories lost setting, so I never look at it. Distance is also a useful setting. -I noticed that when you stop pedaling, it takes 2-3 seconds for the clock to pause. I think it's very handy that the timer knows when to pause. People on the Bike: -My dad (5'9"), my mom (5'3"), and I (5'4") have no problem using this bike comfortably. My sister (5'2") cannot use it comfortably due to her height. She has to scoot forward in the seat, which makes it difficult to remain comfortable. -My dad tried Resistance 6 or 7 and quickly changed to Level 3. This shows you how awesome the resistance is. OVERALL THOUGHTS: -YES, I recommend this product to anyone on a budget. For less than $200, this is seriously a steal!! I hope this bike lasts a long time because I love it.

Great exercise bike if you have the right expectation and usage
I am a male in my late 20s. I'm about 5'9" and 160lbs. I ride a real bike regularly (when the weather permits) for distances around 30+ miles. (Nighttime riding into and around NYC and then back to the burbs) That course includes some steep uphills and having to pedal for your life to get away from cars. As the winter weather (slowly) started I wanted something I can fit in the house and is affordable. To get it out of the way.. there is NO WAY this bike has enough resistance. I can overpower the 'magnetic resistance' on its highest setting and make it feel like the pedals 'skip' instead of providing smooth resistance. But resistance from the pedals isn't the only way to get a good exercise. You can get an excellent exercise from pedal speed. I usually leave it at '3' while changing pedaling speed and then putting it to higher resistance periodically (almost like interval training) You can get as hard of a workout as you want with your pedaling speed (I can get this sucker reading out past 40mph at my highest effort... which makes me doubt any of the readouts other than the time) It's also really really quiet. (even at 'top speed') The bike itself is actually well designed, the handlebars give you a variety of options for extended rides. The seat is actually pretty comfortable (if you're at all used to riding bikes). They spend enough effort to actually give you a channeled groove in the center to relieve pressure in 'that area' It also has a very small footprint. I've so far used the bike for about month and it's not showing any indication that it will fail on me soon. The assembly is about as easy as I expected and took all of 20 minutes. (I did struggle a little bit attaching the cable for the resistance adjustment) It's not going to replicate hill climbing type of effort and it doesn't exactly FEEL like you're riding a real bike, but for the money you pay and for all the pros, it's hard to go wrong with the bike. At the price point it's really hard to even point out any cons... err.. I don't like orange on the plastic shroud? Wait, no... I do. ***Update 5/30/12*** I'm going to update the rating to 5 stars. The bike as seen less and less use since the weather's been getting warmer, but it's holding up very well. Even with fairly regular use nothing broke, and there's no squeaks or rattles to speak of. I'm very impressed with how well it held up so far and expect the bike to hold up (mainly as a coat hanger until this winter) and provide its service when called upon (and beyond) --- I also want to RE-emphasize how SILENT it is even at FULL SPEED, I don't have to adjust the TV volume at all while riding and even late night I don't have to worry about making too much noise. --- Still liking that orange shroud =)

A Good Bike - If It Works
To preface this review, I like the bike itself. The main issue I had was with the manufacturer. Amazon was generally helpful throughout my experience getting this bike set up, and the customer service representative who helped me did an excellent job. Now, I originally ordered this bike from Amazon, and delivery was exactly what you'd expect - a couple of days in transit and bam, big box on the front porch. However, when I opened the box to assemble the bike, I found out that the stabilizers (the two horizontal cylinders at the bottom of the bike, acting as "feet") didn't fit. They'd been cut wrong, so it was only possible to fit the screws through on one side. That's not acceptable for a product like this because if those stabilizers come loose, the user could fall and hurt themselves. Now, the papers that come with the bike ask buyers to contact the manufacturer for technical support, so I shrug and do that. Amazon probably doesn't have individual replacement parts in their warehouses, so yeah. I wait on the phone for a while and eventually get with a rep from the manufacturer, and they say that the parts I need are in-stock and will be sent out shortly. About two weeks pass, so I call again to see what's up. Oh, they're changing warehouses, they say, and my parts will be sent after that's done. The unassembled bike is still sitting on my floor, but I shrug and accept it. I call back a while later, and oops, my parts are out of stock now. I can't get a replacement for another few weeks. I sigh at this point, and call back in another few weeks. The rep tells me it's going to be another two months or so before they get the parts back in stock. At this point, I'm done. Amazon's policy covers 90 days and it's already been two months of this bike sitting unusable on my floor. I'm not waiting another two months, so I contact the manufacturer and tell them to cancel my replacement parts order because I'm replacing the entire bike. Amazon gives me no trouble with this, giving me the instructions and even having a truck come to my house to pick it up. So the second bike gets shipped out... and it's lost in transit somewhere between leaving Amazon and arriving at the USPS. Sigh. I wait a couple of days just to be sure it's not a regular delay in the postal system, then contact an Amazon rep. He took a look at the information and agreed it was probably lost in transit, so they sent out another one - this time with guaranteed delivery within a few days, probably paid for by insurance covering the lost bike. I get the third bike two days early, but not before the manufacturer sent out those replacement parts. ...You know, the parts I cancelled the order for because I didn't need them. The parts they shipped to me several days *after* I cancelled the order for them. Anyway, I finally have a bike (again). The actual setup, with parts that fit, isn't so bad. I think one person in reasonable shape can do it by themselves, although there is a point for connecting the computer and tension control bits that can be a little hard with just two hands. Once successfully assembled, the bike works pretty well. I've been using it for a few days now, and it's operated just fine. I like the bike itself. However, my experience with the manufacturer was delay after delay, and excuse after excuse, so I lost literal months of time I wanted to spend using this bike and improving my health. So far, it's a good bike if you want something sturdy and functional. It's also big enough to work with anyone except the most unusually tall people - I'm pretty tall myself, and there's a whole lot of extra space still. If you're looking for an affordable recumbent exercise bike, this is a good choice - but if you have any issues with the parts fitting together, I suggest ignoring the manufacturer and getting it replaced by Amazon. That's probably going to be a lot easier on you.

Overall, it's fine for general exercise, but it's got some issues
*******UPDATE******* It finally died, now it has a loud clunk when pedaling. Overall the display is wonky and crappy, but for a cheap bike it lasted a while. As a guy who started around 280-290 6ft1, and pedaling my heart out for several years 30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week, it lasted a while. I sort of "outgrew it", I have been lifting and have been using it has a quick warmup and cool down tool, but cardio wise I've been doing more full body stuff and really lifting instead. During my warmup today it finally broke, and I think now I am going to move into a cheaper rowing machine for a more full body cardio warmup. Overall, I changed my review to a 5 star review, this little bike took several moves, years of abuse, and stayed consistent for a long time. For the price and cardio it supplied me for years, it more then earned it's rating. ********************* I've had this bike for a while, over two years now. Putting it together is easy. It's generally cheap but works. The seat and arms wobble slightly with any decent pressure. But again for a cheap bike it's fine. I would not expect this bike to be as solid as typical GYM equitment. My bigger issues start with the fact that it does not move that easily. The timer and info meter in the center is very inaccurate. Seriously I've been tracking it for a while now. I bike 30-60 minutes at a time, the timer is always wrong. At least 1:30-2 minutes wrong on 30 min runs. This was annoying because in the beginning, I scheduled my biking and set just enough time to get my work done and bike etc. So I kept having my timing off because this bike is always off. I compared the timer to my Amazfit Watch, my Regular mechanical watch, my new cell phone, laptop timer, and a standard timer for cooking/athletic timing. Those timers are all the same, bike is always different. Idk why it's always wrong, I never stop during my biking, so there is always power to it, it's just super inaccurate. This led me to believe the other measurements are inaccurate. The calories definitely are wrong, compared to my fitness tracker on my phone/Amazfit Watch. Which I get it's harder to be accurate because it doesn't take personal physiology into account. The distance measurement I hope are right, I try to do 10-20 miles a run depending on time, but idk if it's accurate, I don't know a way to measure it, but if I was a getting man I'd put the house on not accurate. The front handle bars are generally useless, maybe it's more my size? 6' 1", 235, started closer to 280, couple years ago. The tension controls when you change it feels off for a bit, then it seems to settle in after going for a couple minutes. The center loose knob is almost useless, the rear caps slip off all the time while moving and just riding sometimes, I super glued them into the correct position and it's fine. Overall, if you want a cheap recumbent bike, generally quite, and that's it, buy this. If you are expecting quality, any type of accuracy on the digital readout, or a gym style setup then don't buy this, you need to move into a higher price bracket. I would only buy this again if I was on a strict budget and/or this was my first exercise bike and I wanted to get into it first without breaking the bank (which is what I did). Initially it was nice to be able to bike inside during rough times of COVID and get into this without breaking the bank. When I move, I will probably just replace this bike with a more expensive, more solid, and more accurate one. I should also mention, I have back problems and neck issues, which is why I got this type of bike. Generally it's okay comfort wise on the back. At the end of my biking I get tight and gotta stretch after, but it would be way worse on a regular stationary bike or outdoor biking. Hope this helps

Buen producto

Excellent, solid bike good for rehab
This bike is ideal for me. Post-stroke it's got the ideal tension for me to rehab with. It's easier for me to get on as no real leg lifting is needed and I can get my foot into the pedals. It was delivered very quickly and I would definitely recommend. My husband says the bike was straight forward to build - not as easy as putting up a shelf - but good that it's not.

A great recumbent bike for those on a budget, a senior or recovering from surgery or injury.
What really impressed me as I unboxed and assembled the bike - was just how well built it was - very solid. The instructions were okay but I suggest watching a You Tube video on assembling this bike. The computer monitor really did need some suggestions of how to insert the wiring. With the help of You Tube...it went quickly. Once on the bike - it felt sturdy....a few tweaks and bolt tightening removed any movement. The flywheel is particularly smooth and I felt no difference from much more expensive fitness centre bikes. The monitor is basic - but provides most of what you need to know during a workout. (time, calories, distance, speed etc.). There is no holder for a phone or tablet....but that I imagine could be added to the post at some point. The adjustment for leg length is manual and a bit stiff but not something you are doing continuously so not an issue. What IS important is you can be over 6 FT and be comfortable as well as just over 5 FT! Having just had hip surgery and unable yet to ride an upright bike....the Marcy really has permitted me to "get back in the saddle" and get some aerobic activity and leg muscle strengthening. There are 8 resistance levels which is enough for a decent workout. Those looking for a "professional" type bike will need to spend more but for anyone looking for a well constructed and quiet recumbent bike at home....the Marcy MC-709 should be more than adequate. Recumbent bike reviews on You Tube and online have recommended this as a good budget bike for several years now and for good reason. (I did not receive any payment for this review).
