My local homebrew store requires certification in order to fill.** A: It didn't come with the sticker but I just showed them a receipt that it was new and I was good to fill. **Q: This cylinder is empty ?** A: Assuming this is a MT CO² tank, such as those used in Soda Strem or similar units, they may be refilled at home by purchasing or "renting" a full tank of Co² and a refill tank hose. Place the MT bottle to be filled in a freezer for approximately four to eight (4 to 8) hours. This will lower the pressure significantly enough inside the MT tank to refill it from the "bulk" storage tank you purchased (or a tank is "rented" and you are paying for the gas (time periods vary by company on how long you can keep the tank.) If you do not fill your MT bottles frequently, you might consider purchasing the tank. (A 20 pound empty tank was less than $100 when I bought mine years ago. You only pay for the price of the gas then.) I purchased an aluminum tank because they are significantly lighter than a steel tank. The MT cold tank you took from the freezer can now be filled and reused without having to pay for someone to swap it out or fill it for you at an outrageous price. Fill the tank slowly. When the air pressure is equalized the tank will be full (or almost full). If, by chance the tank was "over filled", i.e., the pressure exceeds the rating of the tank, a "safety seal" (small meta) disc) will rupture and the gas will escape. The tank is still good. Go to a Fire Extinguisher servicing business and purchase a new seal and replace it. (Take the tank with you, unless you know what the pressure rating is. I have filled my own MT tanks for over 20 years. Only once have I had a seal rupture. Remember, it is advisable to have your MT bottles hydrostaticly tested to ensure there are no cracks (tanks are over pressurized to make sure they are safe to fill at the "working pressure level" of the tank. This is normally 5 or 10 years. Well, this is how simple it is to refill your own MT CO² tank for a small fraction of what a Soda Steam (or other firm/representative) will charge you to refill your tank. Depending on how frequently you MT your bottles, your payback time could be as little as 12-18 months. (this changes with temperature, the colder the tank and lines, the better it will do, mine is indoors) I am not sure why people are complaining about this tank not being polished. It is true it is not polished, but it just looks like a grey gas tank, dose not affect performance at all.
