Pacific Coast Foraging Guide: 40 Wild Foods from Beach, Field, and Forest

A great reference guide
I've been foraging for twelve years but mostly focused on mushrooms for the first nine. This guide is what carved the path for me to expand my knowledge into other plants, berries, and seaweeds. After owning for a couple seasons I now pick a couple dozen varieties of berries, seaweeds, mollusks, plants, roots, and herbs. Foraging food is communing with nature and the world around us in the most honest way. It has been the most rewarding activity of my life. Be careful out there, as foraging often brings you off trail into often untraveled territory and it is easy to get turned around. Always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Trustworthy friends and family are good for this, but if you get out as much as I do you may feel like you are a burden to them. Thats why I started homesafeoutdoors.com, a company that can keep track of thousands of itineraries and return times simultaneously. If you don't make it back by your return time, we call your emergency contacts and initiate a search and rescue operation. Have fun foraging everyone!

Nice little pocket guide with full color pictures of edibles
Nice little pocket guide with full color pictures of edibles, plus potential dangers listed. Wish it had a bit more info, but still a great guide that covers some of the more common plants and shellfish of the area. I keep a copy in my back pack and my van so I always have one when I'm out.

Pacific Coast foraging
I liked this -- short, to the point, just small type so hard for me to read without reading glasses.

Very small print
If you are over 50... I would recommend that you search elsewhere for a field guide. This one has print so small that this old man can't read it even with my reading glasses.

Or you could have a really bad
Very short and not a lot of information. When foraging it is crucial to be able to be 100%, 100% of the time. Or you could have a really bad trip

A pamphlet not a book
Good sturdy pamphlet to take to the beach.

Cool but limited
I was thinking it would have a little more info. Its a thin 3 page plastic pocket guide. Not worth more than a buck or two at most.

Two Stars
A bit pricey for a brochure.
