Terrific water pump
Terrific water pump. I could not wrap my head around why a cast iron impeller would be better than a steel one. But the impeller in this one is indeed cast iron and considerably larger than the stock one I removed from my 2000 Chevy Impala. This one appears to be very high quality. Like others, I bought the Fel-Pro 35351 blue gasket and used Permatex non-hardening gasket sealer on the gasket as well as the threaded bolts, as at least two of them go into the water jackets. It's surprisingly easy, watch a few YouTube videos and you're on your way. Works great, better than the stock one ever did. The heater is HOTTER than it's ever been, and the temp gauge is rock steady and slightly cooler (yes, I understand what a thermostat does so it makes no sense, but it's still true). Remember to gradually torque the bolts from inner to outer in a star pattern like you'd do a wheel, and torque to specs (two different bolt sizes means two different torques). DON'T FORGET TO BLEED the air out of your engine using the fitting on top of your thermostat housing or you will overheat!

Perfect fit with reliability
Not easy to install without proper tools most people would have a mechanic or such to install for them. New belt added. New antifreeze added. To my car Buick Park avenue 1997. Extremely difficult to access to get the tools to reach to the side of the engine. This item pumps your antifreeze through your engine so it good time to change your antifreeze if you'd like to. The belt needs to be taken off she might as well put a new one on if it needs it. And when the belt is off you can use a laser light to check to make sure all your pulleys are in alignment to make sure your belt receives no wear and tear more than normal. Which can cause squeaking of the pulleys more often if out of alignment and shred your belt quicker. Make sure to tighten your bolts down to the proper specifications in the manual.

This really is the best water pump you can buy for the 3800 engines
This really is the best water pump you can buy for the 3800 engines. It has larger fins than the oem water pump. I used the blue polycarbonate scraper blades by Mini Scaper to remove the old gasket, and that did a very nice job (no scratches to the engine block what so ever). The blades worked best when kept wet with coolant. I used the 35351 Fel-Pro gasket instead of the one that came with this water pump, and before installing I smeared both sides of the new gasket with vaseline. I cleaned the original bolts with a wire brush on a grinder, and applied Permatex 59235 High Temperature Thread Sealant to all the bolts. I'm pretty sure stainless silver bolts is a bad idea; considering stainless silver is weaker, they would most likely break in time due to the heat of the engine block. Working great so far!
