PET CARE Sentry Hairball Relief for Cats,Malt Flavor,4.4 Ounces

I have an orange cat and a black cat. The black cat didn't seem to care for it, but my orange cat loved it. She has been working on a hairball for 3-4 days now and it just won't come up. I used this last night, for the first time, and just put some in their cat bowls on the side of their wet food. I got up this morning and there was a big long orange hairball on my rug. Not how I wanted to start my morning, but it's awesome that the product worked this quickly!

This is the best product for cats who get furballs. It helps the cat pass the fur through the system. It has a malt flavor that my cat really enjoys. If you provide a half inch, as suggested, when he licks it, he'll flick the mass with his tongue and it will end up on the floor or sofa so I'll rub it on his paw and he can lick it off.

OK - I've had long haired cats and used hairball stuff like this for years and they all worked. The last long-haired cat lasted 19 years with nary a hairball. After I agreed to cat sit and the creature was delivered to my home, I was informed that 'She's a puker.' Hmmmmm. Yup! SO - Spent some time online looking around and gotta admit that I didn't know that short haired cats got hairballs so I bought this stuff in hopes that I'd prevent stepping in the joyous goo generally deposited on the rug with the thickest pile. AND, before I could get this stuff INTO the cat - yup, you guessed it. Several early morning cold, slimy surprises. SO - here's my question: HOW do I get this stuff into the cat? My old long hairs always licked this kind of stuff up eagerly after I put a dab onto a paw. I suspect this cat has never been treated for hairball prevention because when I put some of this goo onto her paw she went berserk. Hopped around flapping her foot and the goo went flying everywhere. Ever tried to get it out of a rug? OR off A WINDOW or Computer screen? A little of this stuff goes a Loooong way and it is very, very oily. Thank god I didn't get the Salmon flavor!!!!! I understand how it works and that the mineral oil is what makes it work ... but HOW do I GET IT INTO the CAT if >> I can ever catch her again? I cannot give a complete review at this time because A: I have no clue what the flavor is like altho I can attest to its color and smell > a pleasing Rich Malt. As for value for Money - again - no clue yet... and ease of use? Perhaps there should be another category for Ease of cleaning up after its all over the place :) The info on the box and tube say to store in 59-86F. My place is a nice comfy 68 so it wasn't runny or anything. I can only imagine what that would be like... teeny malty droplets in my hair and on walls and in more spots on the rug or wood floor. This is by no means a criticism of the product which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5 to be fair --- but rather , it's a plea for any cat owners to explain how to get this into the cat. Maybe baste the cats food with it? Will re-visit this review and follow-up if I can get it into the creature and if she does not gaak up another fur-ball.

Works but is the consistency of tar. The consistency makes it almost impossible to give to stubborn cats. Hard to lick, hard to swallow, easy to spit out and sticks to EVERYTHING. Don’t give this over carpet.

I have a La Perm cat that was coughing up hair balls constantly, this is the only thing that helps. It’s not going to completely stop the hair balls but it will lessen there frequency and size. Smells bad and Merlin won’t eat it without hiding it in his wet food but it works great. Also leaves a little stained mustache on him so 5/5 stars.

Look it can be messy--but the relief it gives it worth the effort. 1) Make sure it's room temp. This stuff is very stable so you can keep it handy wherever you plan to do the dosing. Open the cap and give it a gentle squeeze so it will be ready to go. Keeping the cap off, set it on your table ready to go. I'm disabled and cannot stand very long. Also am old and my strength is not what it used to be. This being said either entice your kitty up on the bed with a favorite treat or pick them up and put them there. Spend a few minutes petting. Do some deep breathing to make yourself calm as possible. Next, if kitty is mellow and calm, scoop them and hold them tucked under between your arm and chest, if you're right-handed you'll tuck the kitty under your left arm and chest. Use your lower arm to contain them back into your holding arm with your left hand around their chest. I lean on them keeping them in this "arm tube". With your free right hand pick up the tube and hard squeeze at least a 1 inch strip into your kitty's left front leg using your right index and middle fingers to smoosh it into their fur. Repeat on the other leg. (Granted all of this is a bit much, but if your kitty doesn't want to lick it off of your fingers then getting this down them is more important.) Keep hold of then if you can praising them. Let them go--they usually spring off the bed, run a few steps and immediately start licking their legs to get rid of the stuff thereby ingesting the hairball relief. Once it's been ingested if tales about a minimum of 6-8 hours for it to work. ***Now if your kitty is not amenable to happily being picked up, I use the the scuff method which is once I lure them onto to bed I make a strategic grab to secure their scruff tightly, and stuff them under my arm just the same as the mellow method. Follow the same steps as noted above. P.S. 1) I use the corner of my bed with my chair (kitchen chair preferred as it doesn't have any arms to get in the way) and a small table (here I use my walker as it is an ideal height. 2) I strongly advise practicing this (a dry run) several times without your kitty before you attempt it. AMAZING! My cat had a bowel obstruction and the vets weren’t helping other than telling me to up his water intake. I tried miralax, cat grass, omega-3 oil, wet cat food, water, pumpkin, coconut oil and nothing was working this was my last resort and it worked! 4 hours after ingesting he FINALLY passed the hairball stuck in his intestines! Truly life saving!

seems o k though to be honest i have not used it yet as i am still using another brand at the moment.
