A must have lens for portrait Photography

If you ever have the option to buy two lenses for your Sony Alpha, then this is one lens I can recommend. I have been in photography for over 30 years and believe me this lens can match the costlier 1.4 version at nearly 95% of the instances. Unless off course you want to show off and carry a huge bulky lens. Its mostly on your skills and very few people will notice the 0.4 aperture difference. An extremely great lens for portrait and close up cinematic video . The rounded blades when fully open produce great bouquet as also its fast and works well in low light conditions (see the image). For those who want to learn more, there are several Youtube videos (none by me) on this lens.

Over all my simple review is just go for it if you want budget lens with high quality, the G master 85mm f1.4 is too much costly, there is a minor difference from the picture quality of 85mm G master f1.4 and this 85mm f1.8, but i love this product.

Da grande amante degli obiettivi tele, utilizzo il Sony 85mm f/1.8 da quasi due anni sulla mia Sony A7S III, abbinato al 35mm f/1.8 sempre di Sony. Questa lente da 85mm è incredibilmente versatile per le riprese video: con l'apertura f/1.8, offre un bokeh morbido e naturale che permette al soggetto di staccarsi perfettamente dallo sfondo, creando una sensazione di profondità che fa davvero la differenza, specialmente in ambienti di ripresa professionali. È ideale quando documento eventi in cui mantenere la giusta distanza è cruciale per catturare reazioni emotive spontanee e naturali. Per le riprese video, è la mia lente preferita quando realizzo interviste, spot e documentari di matrimonio (sì, mi piace chiamarli così per differenziarli dai video posati e innaturali). La velocità di messa a fuoco è impeccabile, sia per movimenti rapidi che per riprese più tranquille: non solo è silenziosa, ma anche estremamente precisa. Questo mi consente di ottenere filmati fluidi e privi di distrazioni, una caratteristica fondamentale quando si lavora con video in 4K, come quelli girati con la mia A7S III. Inoltre, la qualità costruttiva di questo obiettivo è eccellente, pur mantenendo un peso e dimensioni contenuti. Può sembrare un dettaglio, ma quando si trascorrono ore sul set o in giro per eventi, è un aspetto che non va sottovalutato (lo dico con cognizione di causa, dopo aver trascorso 48 ore filate a documentare la Processione dei Misteri di Trapani). È un obiettivo che ho imparato a conoscere e apprezzare profondamente: ogni volta che lo uso, sono sempre più convinto che sia una delle migliori scelte in questa fascia di prezzo per chi lavora da solo e desidera ottenere una resa eccezionale senza dover vendere un rene.

Das Sony 85mm f/1.8 ist meine erste Festbrennweite überhaupt und gleichzeitig mein erstes Objektiv für meine neue Sony A7 III. Ich habe es jetzt etwa eine Woche im Einsatz und bin einfach nur begeistert. Im direkten Vergleich zum 28–70mm Kit-Objektiv ist der Unterschied gewaltig: mehr Schärfe, bessere Freistellung, Verarbeitung und insgesamt professionellere Ergebnisse. Obwohl ich gerade erst mit Vollformat begonnen habe, fiel mir der Einstieg mit diesem Objektiv extrem leicht – es macht einfach Spaß zu fotografieren. ✅ Pro • Knackscharf • Wunderschönes Bokeh – perfekte Freistellung bei Porträts • Top Verarbeitung – fühlt sich hochwertig und stabil an • Leicht & kompakt, trotz Vollformat-Design • Schneller & leiser Autofokus • Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis • Ideal für Anfänger & Fortgeschrittene, die in Festbrennweiten einsteigen wollen ❌ Contra • Kein integrierter Bildstabilisator (bei der A7 III aber kein Problem dank internem IBIS) 🧾 Fazit Als meine erste Festbrennweite hat mich das Sony 85mm f/1.8 total überzeugt. Es liefert gestochen scharfe Bilder mit einem traumhaften Bokeh – ideal für Porträts, aber auch im Alltag nutzbar. Besonders in Kombination mit der Sony A7 III bekommt man hier unglaublich viel Qualität für den Preis. Ich liebe dieses Objektiv jetzt schon und möchte es nicht mehr missen. Habe mehrere schon mit den Bildern überzeugen können. Viele sprachen mich auch an und bewunderten das Objektiv. Ich war auf einem Mittelalterfest unterwegs und die Ergebnisse sprechen für sich. 📸 Wer mit Festbrennweiten einsteigen will oder Porträts liebt, macht mit diesem Objektiv alles richtig. Egal ob Einsteiger oder Profi.

Good for portrait

La verdad que me salió bien de precio por menos de500€. Es un objetivo que no debe faltar en tu mochila, para retrato es perfecto da muy buena calidad de imagen desde 1.8, si no te importa el dinero puedes comprar el 1.4 pero en precio se dispara mucho sin embargo en calidad de imagen no vale la pena a no ser que te ganes la vida con la fotografía. Yo no compraría otras opciones como viltrox que a pesar de ser buena opción y en cuestión de calidad se puede decir q están muy parejos no creo que a la larga merezca la pena. La compra de objetivos es algo muy personal pero los originales de la marca siempre siempre siempre van más finos de las marcas de terceros. Todos sabemos que sigma tamron viltrox sanyang fabrican cada día mejores productos pero para pagar casi lo mismo me quedo con sony. Llevo más de 15 años haciendo fotos probando todas las marcas del mercado canon pentax nikon y ahora sony y en cuestión de objetivos he tenido los pata negra de todas las marcas y puedo decir bien alto que no siempre compensa pagar 2000€ por un objetivo. Soy analista de artículos fotográficos tengo una web y canal de YouTube con mis reviews y puedo deciros que los pata negra de cada marca no suelen ir acompañados de lo que ofrecen por el precio que valen. Solo para gente que viva de esto y gane dinero con esto merece la pena pagar por los top. En este caso del 85mm hay varios y el más caro es el g máster 1.4 pues no ofrece tanto más que este pornel triple de precio. Hay opciones más ajustadas que van realmente bien, ahora si tengo que elegir entre algunas marcas de terceros y el sony 1.8 no me lo pienso.
