OK if there is some load on the output. Otherwise no display at all.
Works fine if there is a device or the device simulator attached to it. But if you just connect it to a PoE port without any output load, the display is blank. I'd like to see the voltage.

Great tool for troubleshooting POE when the deployment doesn't just work
This POE tester comes with its own carrying case and is another troubleshooting tool that I will keep in my quiver. Unlike other reviews criticizing the requirement to have something plugged in to see the voltage, I appreciate that the tester is smaller instead of attaching the dummy load into the tester as could be done with a different design. I was also impressed that it supported all versions of PoE that I threw at it. That included PoE (802.3af), PoE+ (802.3at) and PoE++ (802.3bt). As you can see in the pictures it shows the voltage and what pairs it is on. There is also a switch on the tester which changes between display mode (voltage and wattage) or status mode. in Status mode, a green light will show if there is PoE on the line if you want to just see a quick go/no-go test. In my opinion, it is well worth the price to have an easy to use tool at my disposal instead of trying to measure voltage from the pins on a RJ-45 connector with multimeter leads. Just to be clear I have no affiliation with this company and I did buy my own POE tester at full price. I just am really excited when I find a good fit for a well-made product.

Instructions are very hard to understand
It seems to work OK, but I was only able to make basic use of this product because the instructions are difficult to understand.

DOES NOT PASS NETWORK TRAFFIC!
I wanted to like this so much. I have a tester from PoE Texas that works, but has a scrolling display that only displays one attribute at a time, so if the device doesn't have steady power draw, you might miss a peak power reading if the display is showing volts instead of amps at that time. I was hoping the Hobbes tester would be a nice upgrade. This device displays volts, amps, and power all at the same time, which is great, BUT we tested three different IP phones and two different access points and none of them would connect properly with the Hobbes tester in line. What good is it to test the power draw of a device if you can't get the device to fully power on? I want to see how much power is used during bootup as well as in use. Unfortunately that is not possible with this meter. This is not an ad for PoE Texas, that device needs a better display, but at least it works.

Also confirmed. Does NOT pass network traffic. Useless!
It's being returned. Useless cannot stay in-line. Does not pass network traffic. I wanted to leave it inline to my IP camera but my IP cameras wont work when this device is in-line. Grrrrrrrr!!!
