It is exactly as described- I measured it and it is 4 cups. I thought it would be a bit bigger, the photo would do well to have something to gauge scale. It seems bigger in the pic, at least to me. I have a pyrex 2 cup liquid measuring cup. It is about that size. I expected something about twice this size. Still, it is adorable. I just can't use it for the huge salads I like to take for lunch. Oh yes, if you use the 'plate' then there is only three cups of space below. Something to consider if you're planning to use it for a big green salad. I will likely use it for snacks and picnics with my son instead of lunches for work.
