It does state the diameter is 30" and it save a ton of seeds but not in a very windy area. **Q: Is there a way to get replacement straps? The squirrels have chewed through some!** A: Amazon sells some small chain with hooks on both ends and come in different lengths. You can get a pack of 6. I have bought them to hang my bird feeders. I believe they would also work well as replacement straps for the seed hoop. **Q: Is the mesh of screen is fine enough to catch thistle seed?** A: Yes, The mesh is fine enough to catch the thistle seed. **Q: I have purchased 4 of the screen catchers for the seeds but the squirrels love to just sit and eat the birdseed, any others with stronger string?** A: I havent found others with stronger string. And yes, the squirrels like most feeders, can be a problem. Ive used some non toxic syrup on the string, which orevents the squirreks from getting into the feeder.
