I’m looking for a brace that will apply pressure from the outside of the knee to relieve pain on the inside. Will this do that?

No this brace will not do that. It may help stabilize and protect the ACL, but you are looking for a different type of brace. The brace you described is called an unloading/offloading brace and is used to treat unicompartmental osteoarthritis (OA). Unloading OA knee braces typically have only a hinge on one side and that hinge applies pressure to "push" the knee and unload/take the weight off of the other side (the side opposite from the hinge). This pushing action shifts which side of the knee bears the force of weight above it, instead of both sides carrying it. In your case, you will need a medial unloader because you need to unload the medial side of the knee. Medial refers to the inside and lateral refers to the outside. Some OA braces can be worn on either knee and will be labeled as "left medial/right lateral" or "right medial/left lateral" or some variation. For example, "left medial/right lateral" means that the brace will unload the medial side of the left knee or the lateral side of the right knee. OA braces that only come in a left or right version are generally designed only for medial unloading and only work if the pain is on the inside.

Do we measure the knee cap or 2” below knee cap?
