English Rose Matelasse Coverlet, Full/Queen, Ivory/Parchment

I have been searching for a coverlet for over a year! I was always afraid to buy something that has some type of "pattern" since my bedroom is wallpapered. Not only does it go well with my wallpaper, I believe it would go well with any wallpaper. It's absolutely stunning. I wanted to sleep with it for one night to see if it stretched. . .it didn't. I rate everything five stars which includes the "pattern," material quality, and comfort. It's a nice weight. It's not heavy or light it's truly in between! I washed it in cold water and dried it on medium heat and it did NOT shrink. I constantly tell my husband that I love it. Knowing what I know now, I can honestly say, I would have paid more without a second thought. I definitely recommend it to anyone whose looking for an elegant look for practical use. Concerning the size accuracy, I had NO problem and my bed's an antique. Have no fear buying this coverlet. I'd be shocked if you weren't 100% satisfied. . . like me!

What do I like most about this coverlet? It's beautiful at a beautiful price. I was so pleased that it was a light, soft, sage green - the color shown for king/queen coverlet. I washed the coverlet as soon as it arrived. I didn't measure it, but it fits my queen bed just the way I hoped it would. No need for me to take a photo - trust me, it fits my bed perfectly and I'm happy. The material is so soft and when I pull it back at night it does not leave a crease across the middle of the coverlet. Pulling it halfway or 3/4 down at night leaves enough material to add a bit more warmth to my feet and legs. Happy, Happy! Thank you!

Since I have a queen sized mattress with a giant pillowtop mattress I need a king size coverlet to fall long enough to cover the mattress and springs. And I wanted a good quality matelasse to replace the one that I had. This coverlet is made in Portugal, not China and is quality construction. The pattern is subtle and pleasing and the ivory is a true ivory and not too yellow. I was concerned that the price being so low for this product would indicate skimpy fabric or uneven stitches. Not so! This is as pretty as the Peacock Alley coverlet that I had that was 3 times the price. Highly recommended and I'm very glad to have found this on Amazon. Addendum: I washed the coverlet and dried it in the dryer on medium. It SHRUNK. So beware. It is now about the size of a regular queen size coverlet. I just can't put anything on my bed that hasn't been washed. Maybe line drying would have been ok.

I love the quality and detail of this bedding. I was brave enough to get it in white for a very clean, classy look and I love how well the detail shows. I love the fabric. We haven't needed to wash it yet but, it doesn't look as fragile as most coverlets and I'm confident it will hold up well on a delicate cycle. I love that it's shorter on the sides than most King size comforters, which shows the beauty of our bed from all angles. If you've been pricing these, you'll see that this is a steal of a deal for a white coverlet set. Would definitely recommend.

I really wanted this to work! It is beautiful, a nice subtle color of cream (also called parchment or linen) and I love the design of the matelasse... a perfect blend of being intricate but not busy. However, the full/queen comes nowhere near to fitting my queen size bed. I know the description says it won't cover the box springs, but it doesn't cover the top mattress and is much too short from the top of the bed to the foot of the bed. I might try a king, but the other reviews say shrinkage is an issue so I'm not sure. It is also thin, but that was OK with me, just be aware that if you want something thick this is not for you. So pretty, though. If you can deal with the size issues (and possible shrinkage) I'd go for it.

I was lookig for something that went with a long time ago purchase of a matelasses cover, that was of good quality, and not very expensive since the look is seasonal. I found it in these shams. The only negative is that there is a strong "newness" odor, but after a wash, most of it was gone. They held up very well in the laundry and they really do look nice. I am very please with the purchase.

The first coverlet was purchased in a full/queen size for a queen size sleigh bed. It shrank quite a bit in the cold-water wash and low tumble dry, and would no longer cover the bed sideways. I returned it for a king size. The color is a classic linen parchment, more an ecru than an ivory, and quite pleasing in quality and design with its scalloped edges. This coverlet also shrank, this time more notably from top to bottom. The sides are long enough as the King size compensates for sideways shrinkage and it is on a queen bed, but that doesn't help much for lengthwise shrinkage. I recommend purchasing a size larger and don't count on using it as a bed spread due to shrinkage issues. It is lovely for layering purposes.

I have to agree with another one star reviewer, as well as wishing I'd listened to her simply for the aggravation of a return. I've looked for a quality Matelassé for a long time and can only berate myself for not living by my standard take on "if it seems to good to be true...." The fabric is one ply, there's no backing and the single ply is not even substantial in weight. I've had heavier tablecloths. I also cannot believe this could be 80% cotton. It feels like 100% polyester. Yes, the design in the photo is lovely, it implies everything the reality doesn't deliver; a thick, rich well made coverlet. Everything that this coverlet is NOT. I'm truly disappointed as I loved what I could see of the actual "rose" design on it. Very unusual, I thought. However, it's my own fault for thinking I could find the quality I wanted at what seemed like an impossible price. Joann's Fabrics sells a Matelassé fabric that is better quality and more honestly described. It's on sale right now, regularly 34.00/ yd. for $18 and I'm going to evaluate that price/quality against anything else I next consider.
