It did an amazing job at breaking down the makeup on my face. It did not irritate my eyes in the least. It did have a fragrance but it was pleasant and not overpowering (however if fragrance at all bothers you, steer clear of this one). I always swipe a cotton pad of cleansing water on my face after removing my makeup, just to be sure all traces of it are gone--and whenever I used this product, there was hardly anything for the cotton pad to pick up.
