## Description

desertcart.com : Easy to Grow Oxalis Regnellii Lucky Shamrock 20 Plant Bulbs - Green Foliage & White Flowers Spring to Summer, Indoor Outdoor Zones 6-10 : Flowering Plants : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Review: Every bulb sprouted! - Apologies for the messy pic, we just had storms come through. I was a little nervous that most were duds but slowly the ones in the sensory starter pods s began emerging and today I see that every single one has! They are so cute! I recommend planting them directly into a larger container that you plan to keep them in since the ones I planted in a larger pot sprouted first. I'm nervous to transplant them once they're a bit stronger but hopefully they'll be ok. ** UPDATE ** I have loved these bulbs/plant for the last 2 years. They can stay out year round in my zone, though they do die back for the winter. I left them out in a pot (with a water reservoir because they get so thirsty in our summer heat here) and they came up in the spring. This spring however, the squirrels dug up the bulbs and ate them, so I had to reorder some new bulbs. I'm a bit disappointed in the bulbs this time. They look ok but there are only 18, not the 20 I expected, and a few chunks of something - not bulbs, not even dried bulbs, just chunks of something, and they just came in the bag pictured, unlike last time when they came better wrapped and with a card from the seller, I think even care information from what I remember. This bag was just tossed in with my other desertcart order, I protected from the other items. I'm going to plant them and just be ok with the 18 bulbs. I adored this plant so I'm excited to have it again. I'm going to plant them straight into the ground this time and hope maybe the squirrels don't have such an easy time getting to them.
Review: Didn't grow - The bulbs were extremely small and just disintegrated in my dirt. None of them bloomed. Ive grown these before and never had any trouble with them, so I don't think it was me

## Questions & Answers

**Q: color -- your picture shows the purple cross plant, but the title/ad states purple -- what are they?**
A: The leaves are a dark purple--sometimes almost black. The flowers are light lavender. These are delightfully unusual, almost like nothing else that I have seen. They are generally very easy to grow. You have to try hard to kill them.

**Q: Hello! I was wondering how to care for these bulbs. What pot size, soil, lighting, and watering should I use?**
A: These are very easy plants to grow and care for. Think about the size pot you might get an African Violet in. If you use that size pot, fill it almost to the top of the pot with potting soil that drains well. (Walmart, Target... sell small bags of potting soil.) Get a pencil or something about the size of a pencil and poke the pencil into the dirt a little deeper than the bulb is long. Stick the bulb into the hole in the dirt. The more bulbs you put in the pot, the more full the plant will look. It would be hard to put too many bulbs in the pot. Once you have put in as many bulbs as you want to, water the dirt well. I water until water seeps out of the bottom of the pot. You may need to put a little bit more dirt in the pot once the water soaks in. I water the pot once a week and I give it water until the water seeps out of the bottom. (Put the pot on a dish or something like that so the water that drains out can still be absorbed by the plant.) Put the pot near a window and watch it grow. One of the nice things about this plant is you can tell when it needs to be watered because the stems will begin to droop. If you forget to water it, don't worry, once you begin watering it weekly, it will begin to grow again.

**Q: are these the non-invasive type? (stay in a clump, does not spread all over yard like bamboo...)**
A: Yes. They are really easy to grow and no,they don't invade the area ratio they grow .. Actually I would like the wild spreading to be a issue with this one!

**Q: How quickly do they have to be planted? Looking to give as Christmas gifts.**
A: I planted mine within 2 wks. I would suggest planting them closer together than is recommended on the package as only about 50% of mine germinated. I bought mine as an indoor houseplant so as long as they are kept in good light I think they are OK to plant in the winter time. They have beautiful deep purple triangular leaves that fold in the evening. I love them and will probably buy more. I have two pots at home and one in my office at work!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Every bulb sprouted!

### ⭐ Didn't grow

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cute Shamrock, fun to watch grow
*by G***E on February 27, 2017*

I struggled with the decision to buy a Shamrock plant already started or to start one myself. I decided I wanted the experience so went ahead and bought the bulbs. I planted about half according to directions and the size of the pot and then waited. And waited. AND waited. Being the impatient person I am, I tried to google everything I could to get a commitment from somebody on how long before they sprout. I found tons of info on how to care for them from soil to water to light. But for sprouting - all I got was "several weeks." But then - after pushing around the dirt ever so lightly (BAD habit, resist this urge and leave the poor thing alone), A SPROUT! It was like a miracle they came one after the other after the other and within a week voila! I planted them on Feb 2nd and first sprout was just shy of 3 weeks. All I did was plant them about 1-1-1/2" down, watered thoroughly, waited until dry about 1-1/2 weeks later, watered again and they sprouted. Picture taken today is what it looks like after only a week from first sprout. And they're still coming up. I'm excited to see how it looks when mature which shouldn't take long - it grows like a weed! Update Mar 7, 2017 Look at it grow!
