Very good vacation reading
I have loved this author ever since I was a kid and now I find many of her books available for the Kindle, that is awesome. Enid Blyton has imagination to devise stories that inspire your imagination. I like the way in which she can make you feel that you are there with the kids puzzling over the strange happenings and exploring. You can feel the grass, the wind, even the taste of the food they eat. You delight both in the trivial experience of the everyday and in the bizarre, mysterious "underworld" they come across.I don't like it that she dwells too much in the behavior and description of the kids' pets, or the fact that the introduction before strange things start happening is very long.A very good reading for a summer afternoon vacation.

Another children's adventure story.
This story takes the children on a donkey back camping trip to the Vale of Butterflies in the Welsh mountains, with a guide who can't read a map, speaks little English and lacks courage. The resulting adventure brings them into contact with bad men, a mad scientist, and unwittingly kamikaze paratroopers. I enjoyed the read, but if it weren't a children's book, I'd say it left questions unanswered. Since it is a children's book, it's probably best not to ask.

Re-living childhood memories
I was captivated by The Valley of Adventure as a child. When I re-discovered it as an adult, I began collecting the other books in the series. There are, of course, unrealistic things like the range of the parrot's vocabulary, but it certainly makes for fun situations. And of course no children would really have such adventures, but at least these children get help from adults to resolve their situations, which makes them much more realistic than some well-known series where the teen heroes are portrayed as all-knowing and omnipotent while the authorities are bungling idiots and most adults need help from the kids! These are good, clean adventure stories where people do occasionally shoot guns, but no one gets killed. Of course good always triumphs in the end--these are escapism for kids!

A classic example of its genre
Classic Enid Blyton;Timeless and perfect- don’t expect 21st century sensibilities, a classic example of its genre in its time and place.Demanding that Enid Blyton should have feminist sensibilities is like expecting Charles Darwin to appreciate the movies, it’s a matter context.

5. Book of the Adventure Series
The overall story is nice with Kiki adapting to the local language and amazing nice pets. However the adventure story is a bit farfetched. But all in all nice to read and typical Enid Blyton.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets start with the fact that this story has an excellent plotline. It is so exciting, especially for children and Kiki is so funny and creative. It makes you feel like you are there with them.I think that Enid Blyton is a brilliant author and that her books are so engaging and adventurous. I also think that some of the other people that have given this book bad reviews are being picky and are not taking the fact that this is a children's book into account.Freya
