How to Draw and Paint Fairyland: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating the World of Fairies

Beautiful book very helpful; gives many ideas to be creative.

I'm not a big fan of this illustrator's work, but this book is nonetheless perfect - so two thumbs up to the illustrator as an instructor. She gives you great tips and exercises to practice. To be honest, it was exactly what I needed.

I deeply enjoy Ms. Ravenscroft and do find this book useful as inspiration. However, the subject matter of this book would have done better with more pages devoted to it. As it is, I feel most of the book is filled with the seemingly requisite intro-to-art section, the gallery of other artist's work (I do love this section), and lots of close-ups of bark, leaves, et al. While the last section is necessary, it can also be met by other books that focus on plants. I personally would have enjoyed more sweeping landscapes of fairy abodes, towns, and gatherings that showed the natural and fae worlds combined. Having said all that, I do enjoy this book and feel it is a good book for a new or younger artist simply because it has a small sampling of several things combined within it.

The book is beautiful and very helpful with the getting ideas and inspiration for fairyland with all it's aspects like flowers, animals and more.About the "how to draw" part- I felt like it's a book of ideas but not for a begginer like me. The drawings inside are beautiful but in a very high level for a begginer. I will get back to it after I will get some practice with base fairies drawings.But even if you don't want to draw at all, I think this is a beautiful book to learn with about Fairyland.

can't wait to read more and practice from this beautiful book. The artwork is lovely and has a lot of knowledge shared in each page. I recommend these to all lovers of Faerie!

This 128pg book is beautiful and holds a lot of information in great detail. This truly is a "how to" book.In the first section it shows you how to: use media, combine color for mood, create fairyland weather and seasons and painting flowers and foliage, etc.Section two deals with cropping, scaling, foreshortening, light and shade, perspective and ready to draw fairies, homes and neighborhoods, etc.The third section covers the inventing of your own fairyland. It shows you techniques in order to create: leaves, foliage, trees, flowers, fruits, stones, water, underwater and reflections, walls and fences, castles, thrones, rainforests, ready to draw environments, etc.The last section gives you ready to trace and draw figures and artwork done by other artistsThis book is a must have if you want to create your own fairyland, and it's a wonderful reference and source of inspiration.

I have shelves lined with wonderful books on drawing and all things fairie. This is one I didn’t have and I highly recommend. I bought as a gift and loved so much I ordered myself a copy. This will not disappoint even if your not an artist/interested in drawing. The illustrations alone are worth a read. Mine delivered in 48 hours. Very happy with this purchase.

The drawings are absolutely gorgeous. Really helpful instructions on how to get the fairy land look and feel you may wish to achieve. Very inspirational.
