Just picked up the MEGATEK region-free DVD player and I’m honestly impressed. Setup was super easy right out of the box, and it plays everything I’ve thrown at it without any issues. The region-free feature is a huge plus perfect if you’ve got DVDs from different countries or older collections. Picture quality is surprisingly sharp on my 55” TV, and the upscaling does a solid job making standard DVDs look clean and watchable. It’s also very quiet while running, which I appreciate. The remote is simple and responsive, and overall the player feels reliable and well-built for the price. If you’re tired of streaming limitations or movies disappearing from platforms, this is a great pickup. Definitely worth it especially if you’re getting back into collecting DVDs like I am.

1. Build quality is good, not like my last player bought 5 years ago that was noisy, cheap and thankfully died. 2. I can't hear this one from 10' away which is great. The full metal case likely helps damp self-noise. 3. I have a 55" plasma TV.... the image quality is very nice. 4. Using a fairly high end B&W british speaker and amp tweaked with $140. US opamps, I was watching The Song of Bernadette which actually has a very nice classical (432Hz=A) music score recorded on vacuum tube reel to reel and for the first time, I could actually appreciate it. I have to say that was a big surprise for such an inexpensive "after thought" purchase. 5. The remote is a point and click, but is nicely sized, intuitive and easy to use and like. In fact, I have no need of the owner's manual at all. 6. There is a bright green sticker on top saying one year full replacement warranty or such... nice, and who does that? 7. Overall, works fine for me. The video is fine and the audio is MUCH better than expected. The price is right.

Plays all types of movies, bought this because my Xbox couldn't read my new international dvd movie. Plays CDs and DVDs, works well and great for the price!

I tried using an RCA-HDMI adapter to get from my dvd player to a Samsung HD TV but the picture quality was much worse than RCA direct & subtitles would not work. This new dvd player solved my problem forr about the same price! It seems to be high quality- metal body, wired power cord (not the dreaded USB type). The picture is crystal clear- much better than my old dvd player! Subtitles work. It plays my foreign dvds PAL/non region 1, it plays DVD_R (recorded dvds)! Brilliant. BTW I used a high quality HDMI cord based on another review. The only small annoyances so far are that the DVD audio is extremely low so the TV volume has to be very high (like 50-60 instead of 20), a poorly designed confusing remote, and an audible spinning sound like a computer dvd reader.

This is a really nice DVD player for the price. I am especially happy that it actually plays DVD's from other regions. The picture quality seems to be pretty good & it is not laggy at all. It was very easy to set up & it is nice and compact & doesn't take up too much room

This Megatek DVD Player works great. Easy install. Plagn Play. It worked on all 3 of my TVs. 2 Oldies but goodies and 1 smart TV. If I can install it, anyone can.

A DVD player in the 21st century is a bit of an odd purchase. I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, etc. all streaming in 4K as well as other options. Besides I gave away all my old DVDs anyway. But this is also an excellent CD transport. I connected it by co-axial cable directly to a high quality dac/headphone amp and wired to an audiophile headset. It does not need to be connected to a TV. The remote opens and closes the player and plays and selects the tracks on the CD. The digital output is excellent and apparently flawless so (with coaxial connection) you get highest quality from your old CDs. I had been using an old PS2 routed through the TV and learned that, so-connected, lossless audio was not possible. And ...amazingly low price for something that competes well for me with devices at ten-times the price.

We just reached the year mark for using the Megatek Region Free DVD. For the past year it worked flawlessly. It was easy to set up and the player played DVDs from locations that we could not play in the past. Unfortunately last week the picture went black. Initially I thought it was a HDMI cable issue and I tried another cable but the picture was still black. I then plugged in the composite cables and the picture came back. The quality is not the same as the HDMI. To be fair my mother used this machine for the past year almost everyday and probably 5-6 hours a day. Therefore. I cannot complain about the amount of usage we got for the price we paid. I would recommend this unit and I only gave it a 4 because of the failure of the HDMI plug.

I bought this unit from an Australian seller who drop shipped it from the USA so it has a US style plug which is useless for Australian power outlets. Back it goes. Why do sellers do this? It's just incompetent.

Ok, to be fair I just plugged everything in and it’s now playing my favourite CD. Tested and works with my USB drive too. So far, so good 🙂 For SGD100 it is doing its job decently, and it is able to do the same in one year’s time I would have gotten my money’s worth 😅 Go for it 👍👍👍

Very good DVD player, easy to use and works perfectly with the TV. The image quality is good and the setup is quick. The only downside is that it doesn’t support Blu-ray, which would have made it perfect. 👍 Pros: Easy to use Good picture quality Compact and practical Quick setup 👎 Cons: No Blu-ray support 🎯 Final verdict: A great DVD player that works very well, but keep in mind it does not support Blu-ray.

It only worked for few DVD’s and then the door stuck and does not open. It’s a waste of money.
