Review: Fantastic - SetUp/FutureProof/SoundQuality/Connectivity - I bought this instead of the Q80 or Q90 as my room had no space for additional speakers so Dolby atmos was a must for me and the upward firing speakers work very well to create the surround effect. Set up was easy with Bluetooth from my tv and later connecting my tv and sound bar to the app on my phone meant I had remote control over each and could set ‘Home’ style animations. I may get some additional speakers and will update this review with results if I do but as far as I can tell it will be a pain free addition. Sound quality is great and easy to change quickly. The sound bar itself seems a little odd at first but that is only because of all the additional energy you are now hearing from certain frequencies so it may take a few hours to adjust but once you have you’ll realise what a great purchase this is. The sub isn’t quite large enough for trouser flapping bass but for all your cinematic bass booms, rises and drops, weapon fire, explosions, collisions you’ll be more than satisfied. Engine noise, bass and music are all great through the sub too, adding the extra frequencies to a dedicated speaker makes a world of difference. WiFi, Bluetooth, Optical, AUX and HDMI make this even better as connectivity is so easy. I leave mine on WiFi mode so I can remotely turn my system on when I come home, swap to Spotify and have it show up in my devices list and just as easily swap back to tv when I’m settled down in bed. For the best experience at 36bit you should use HDMI though. This will also work to fix any latency problems if you encounter them (unlikely) as it now supports AV syncing. After experiencing this system I will be purchasing the new 8k tv with the Q90R for my living room in the new year as the difference of a 3.1.2 atmos system is fantastic enough already but a dedicated 7.1.2 system would be top of the line. Connecting to the internet is a bit more tricky - requires the SmartThings app and a bit of patience to get this done! Sound quality and output is fantastic. Only draw back it does highlight how rubbish some of the sound engineering is on some channels and on many TV series i.e. inconsistent sound levels within a programme, overly loud music, inconsistent sound levels on the same channel and how rubbish the sound is on SD programmes. The system automatically detects Dolby Atmos and will indicate this on the front screen.
