Great value and yes it really does work!
At this low price I was very skeptical but decided to try them anyhow. I was not disappointed. I just wanted something for my first aid kit because we live out in the boonies and I wanted to add this to my assessment kit, to help decide when it is time to make the long trek to a medical facility. I don’t think you are going to find a medical professional using these in most circumstances, but for the layperson who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money they will probably suit your needs.Mine came in a box, packaged in zip bags and needed assembly. It is pretty intuitive, but there were no instructions so if there were any little tricks to be missed, I probably missed them. Also, the description says there are extra ear pieces so you can choose the ones that best fit your ear canal but mine had none of these and I would not describe them as comfortable because the plastic is rather hard. I messed with them a bit, pulling the plastic closer to the end of the tubes and that helped a bit. Also, the metal part comes flat and you need to know that you should twist them into the V-shape so they go into the ear canal properly. They must be adjusted properly for comfort and effectiveness. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, the diaphragm is the type that twists, so if you can’t hear anything flip it around until it clicks; one direction gives good sound and the other doesn’t. It flips so you can using either the small side or the large one but must be in the correct position for the one you are using for good results.Quick tip: If you’ve never used a stethoscope before, do yourself a favor and check out some you tube vids. There are some good ones that will tell you how to adjust it for your use and go over the basics of placement points and how the “patient” should breath, etc. There are a few basics you can learn in around 10 minutes that will greatly improve your experience with this tool. So, at this price it is a great value, cheap enough to give kids a real working tool for their first doctor kit, and I think most people who want this kind of extra for their home medical kit would find it satisfactory as well. And I’m guessing the people who say it doesn’t work are people who don’t know how to properly adjust and use the tool.

Nothing More than a Cheap Toy
Pure JUNK. Yeah, it's inexpensive (as in cheap). I get that. BUT, it is worthless. Do you get what you pay for? Yes - in this case you pay for junk and that is exactly what you get.1) The intense pressure upon you ears is unbearable. The spring loaded yoke is far too powerful to wear for any length of time but for a few seconds or perhaps 1 minute.2) The quality of the sound is abysmal.3) The tactile experience "feel" of the stethoscope is coarse.4) The stethoscope "head" is as cheap as the rest of the thing ( I hesitate to enrich this "toy" by using the term stethoscope again).Am I returning it? YES!

Affordable toy for kids
Purchased for a 3-yr old. I remember when toy stethoscopes actually worked when I was a kid. So when we bought a "doctor's kit" as a toy for our 3.5 year old toddler and the stethoscope was just a plastic piece and didn't even fit well in her ears or transmit actual sound I was disappointed. I found this for very little money and it works great. The ear pieces are kind of hard and would benefit from having some kind of softer material. But for an adult they probably wouldn't be an issue. Great value for what you are getting and my daughter loves it. She plays with it often and doesn't even bother with the toy one that doesn't work.

Pretty but doesn't work!
My daughter (4.5 yo) loves the heart and the science around it. I bought this so she can hear the heart clearly rather than her pressing against our chest to hear our hearts. It came packaged well. There's 3 pieces to it. (Chest piece, ear piece and the flexible tubing) We love the look. It is really pretty. As for the heart beat detection. You barely can hear anything. Its almost like a murmur or a whisper. I noticed, if any clothing touches the chest piece you absolutely can't hear anything at all. It is a great toy for role play but if you are looking to use it to listen for heart beat, I'd say spend a lil more and get another one that works.

Excellent
Once I placed my finger in the middle I could hear a heartbeat crystal clear! Otherwise I couldn’t hear anything. Nice bright pink color. The price is low but the quality is ok for that price.

FABULOUS VALUE FOR THE PRICE!
When you have an aspiring little veterinarian or doctor getting them a stethoscope is absolute must or otherwise you will never hear the end of it :)I set to amazon to get some toy that would allow some serious pretend play with Mom and Dad and stuffed toys or the house pets to pretend to listen to "patient's hearts".I was surprised that this truly budget priced stethoscope actually works SO BEAUTIFULLY! I was expecting something that will only look close to real stethoscope but it works like a professional one!We all tried it many times and we could hear the heart beats loud and clear!Very very happy with the purchase. I can't even count how many playdate kids who came over to had fun with listening to our very patient dogs heart beats.ABSOLUTELY love it!
