Kind of heart-breaking but also inspiring-- apparently my ancestors got kicked-down again and again and again trying to unify Germany for centuries but at the same time they always adapted and rebuilt; I can see where my-- and other Germans'-- work ethic comes from! I also appreciate how Ozment doesn't go into too much detail about World War 2; we have more than enough of that already from other texts and documentaries. A well-written starting point for anyone interested in German history.
