Goodman 20165703 Igniter

Note that the part has changed, including the part number actually shipped 20165703S. It is now a silicon nitride igniter, supposedly fully compatible with the original. I think Amazon and/or the seller should update this in the photo and description.

these always go out at the most inopportune time .. and to make it worse Amazon Prime promised next day delivery to me and pushed it out to a 48 hour event .. seems to be the SOP lately with delivery , so buy two for peace of mind .. as the header states KEEP A SPARE its cheap insurance against being cold in the middle of the night or worse

Install quick and easy last one lasted about two years I hope the same for this one maybe longer this igniter response quick will buy again if needed

You should have an extra on hand in case your igniter fails--it will most likely happen on the coldest day of the year. This is a very easy plug and play replacement. If your furnace is blowing cold air, this could be one of the culprits. Go into your attic or wherever your furnace is. When the unit starts up, the igniter should get red hot at some point. If it doesn't, it could be bad. In my case the control panel ended up being bad. If that happens, the error codes indicated by the number of flashes from the LED on the control board are worthless. Keep an extra control panel on hand as well. While you are at it, make sure you order an extra flame sensor. Get to know your Goodman well--my previous house had a Trane unit and it never gave me any problems and was 10 years old. This Goodman is 6 years old and has already had several problems.

My furnace stopped working on New Years Eve, so I ordered this part the next day, and it arrived on Sunday. Arrived well packaged with loose foam around the fragile igniter portion. Took out the old part and put this one in. It was a bit tricky since the mounting plate was behind the gas pipe in the furnace, but with some care not to hit anything with the igniter on the way in, it was easy enough and saved me over $100 by doing it myself. This model even includes the electrical connector which fits to the OEM plugs in the furnace, so no wire splicing either. Something to keep in mind for the longevity of this part, is that you need to make sure you don't touch the igniter portion as the oils on your hands will corrode the metal and cause premature failure of the part.
