As smartphones get more sophisticated-- and expensive-- this is becoming very necessary. The case features a rather thick plastic overlay that goes over the screen and is part of the case. For some reason, this overlay attracts dust and grease, but it is worth the minor annoyance for the protection. It does not affect the operation of the touchscreen in any way. In fact, because the overlay is part of the case, it gives a spot to slip in a red filter for astronomy nights. The case makes for a tight fit for a USB connector to the USB port, something that is still occasionally required. My wireless charger works through the case back, but the case back could stand to be a bit thinner there. Due to this phone's size, the belt holster is a bit unwieldly, but the phone fits securely in it, and easily snaps in and out. I finally gave it a better look till I found the little tabs that need to be pushed in to open it. Once I accomplished that I was very impressed with it and am happy with my purchase. The rubber is not grippy, but if I set it on my dashboard it would stay. The plastic is a lot easier to get off than previous Otterbox's I've owned. One thing that I do not like and it's why I gave it four stars is the plastic screen. The plastic screen collects the oil off your fingers, and makes it so that every time you tap somewhere it taps in a completely different place. The good thing is the screen is put on with a cheap adhesive so it easily pops out.
