The Vanishing Conscience: Drawing the Line in a No-Fault, Guilt-Free World

The Vanishing Conscience
John MacArthur pinpoints a terrifying tendency of American society. Today, no one is guilty. Everyone is a victim of his environment, his upbringing or his DNA. Thus, no matter what you do, there is always someone else to blame. The author demonstrates the insidious nature of this problem both for society and for the spiritual welfare of individuals. If there is no guilt, there is no need for repentance. Without repentance and faith, there is no salvation.MacArthur gives many examples of the victim mentality. Some would be humorous if the subject were not so serious. He also thoroughly debunks the victim syndrome and shows that a sense of guilt over sin is healthy and helpful. It's like the oil light that comes on. The light isn't the problem. It's a signal that you better stop the car and fix the engine. A sense of guilt serves the same purpose as the oil light.

What does it mean to have a pure conscience?
The war between the new and old natures is real. This book helped me gain a better perspective as I attempt to walk in the Spirit and not carry out the desire of the flesh. MacArthur speaks of what it means to have a tender heart and a pure conscience as well as how to attain these things. A proper understanding of the conscience provides the perspective to deal with people at the heart level which is where the battle rages.

Sound doctrine on sin, sanctification, and the evil of psychology in church.
This is na essential book for all Christians. Many who say they believe in Christ are still dealing with sins that are not confessed. We all need to understand who we are and who God is in order to have a proper perspective on sin. Pastor Macarthur also starts the book with a thorough analysis of psychology in today's world, specially in the church. We must erradicate this evil thought from the church. Pastor Macarthur also gives us many biblical commands and teachings that show us how to live a life separated for Christ. How we need this kind of teaching today!! Great resource.

a must read!
I have read a couple of John MacArthur's books and knew him to be solid, but this is truly awesome. It's both timely and timeless, a challenge to every Christian. It used to be that if you wanted solid writing on this subject you had to read the Puritans, and quite frankly, they can be hard to read for most people. This is easy reading by contrast--but packs a punch!

A Wake Up Call
A very smart perspective on sin, "No Guilt, no sin." It approaches sin from a secular humanist platform. The world is changing right before our eyes, the church is not exempt and what are we going to do about it as Christians. Do we even recognize the change?

Greatest Christian leader since Charles Spurgeon;
Without a doubt, John MacArthur is the greatest Christian leader since Charles Spurgeon. This book is just another example of why I feel this way. He is consistent with his style of preaching by expressing his opinion and then showing you scriptures to back up his position. He is a brilliant Christian with a God given talent of explaining the bible so it benefits everyone from the new Christian to a scholar with many years of study. May God bless John MacArthur and every effort he undertakes. I you are looking for a valuable book about Christianity, buy it!
