Shop around for the best price Review: Easy to install, exellent quality! - The new tank arrived in nearly perfect condition after being shipped almost 3/4 the way across the country (I'm in Arizona and it came from Rhode Island). The only damage was a slight bend in the sheet metal stand where the fitting cut-out is. I was able to straighten out the bend and it didn't affect the operation of the tank. The worst thing about installing this pressure tank was removing the 20 year old failed Well-Mate tank it was replacing. The tank is installed in a crowded garage with no way to drain the old tank. The old tank was waterlogged and weighed about 700 lbs. I constructed a containment berm around the old tank using old towels and cracked open the union fitting. While the water poured out on the floor, I vacuumed it up with my shop-vac and dumped the water on my lawn. The actual installation took about 30 minutes. I needed to purchase a 12" long 1" nipple and a coupling to adapt to the existing plumbing. These parts were in stock at my local hardware store and the new tank only weighed about 45 lbs empty. I was able to easily put it in position and shim the height up about 3/8 inch to match the height of the old tank's fitting. A pressure tank requires air pressure to operate properly. Pre-pressurized just means the tank is shipped already charged with air. Usually it has 38 psi. If you purchase a pressure tank without any air pressure, it just means you would have to add air pressure prior to installation. The WX 203 pressure tank works great in our cabin/home application. The lower the pressure the less wear and tear on your pipes.
