That's all I use mine on, is a 10.5 inch frying pan.

My frying pans are 8 1/2". It fits with about a 1/4" remaining all around the lid. So, not sure about the fit for a 9" pan. That being said, the lid measures 9". I have the larger one too and it should fit your 9" pan without any trouble. Hope that helps and doesn't confuse the issue more!
