After I had everything working and thinking this is a GEN 1 radio, I upgraded to latest software and everything stopped working. I then decided to try the gen 2 update and that worked very well. As far as the can tell, this is a GEN 2 with a hybrid gen 1 screens. It looks and installs like the new GEN 2 units which are plug and play, no board replacements required. Most factory items are preserved except for CD player (you can add one), TPS and Sirius XM radio. (You might be able to add one soon) What exceeds expectations is the HVAC controls. I have a manual AC and this unit does a very good job at making it Automatic. When it's cold in the morning, it's running the heat is on and AC is off. AC comes on and fan is automatically adjusted as needed. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting an Android head unit for their F150. Installation was easy and straight forward. After I had everything working and thinking this is a GEN 1 radio, I upgraded to latest software and everything stopped working. I had the older version so it’s likely fixed now. For the money, I don’t think you can do better. Similarly sized competitor’s models go for over twice the price. The screen completely changes the interior and has pretty good functionality. Install was actually easier than I anticipated.
