The problem with most holders is that I haven't been able to use most of them because they won't stick to my dash because of the textured surface, which most suction-type holders need. I also didn't want a vent holder which would mean I'd have to adhere the other part to my phone. This gel pad solves both problems. I stuck it right on an unused area on my dash, and with my wallet case on the phone I just stick it on the pad. Simple! Four come in a pack, and I've used another one to hold up a collapsible trash holder to the center console.
