"Pharmacist" Recommended KP treatment
First, I want to apologize for the long review, but if you're serious about getting your KP under control in a quick, effective, reasonably sound and safe way then please read on. This product is terrific for anyone who hasn't seen any improvement in their KP with over the counter products that you can buy in your local pharmacy. This product should be used with care. It is NOT considered an over the counter product by the FDA due to its Glycolic acid concentration (>10%) & dual lack of sunscreen. If you're just beginning to treat your KP try some of the OTC products as they may provide sufficient exfoliation for your skin. If like me, you've been there, done that, and have the (long-sleeve) t-shirt to prove it, then this is a great option. Do not use on top of any topically applied prescription agents without consulting your pharmacist or physician. Ok now the review, first a few things... All products containing AHAs (ie. lactic acid and glycolic acid) should be used with sunscreens even for darker tones that aren't prone to sunburns. The increased exfoliation this causes makes your skin susceptible to UV damage which can be as mild as a sunburn or as severe as skin cancer. Don't take your chances. Because these products increase your sensitivity to the sun use them with caution if you're already taking medications that do that as well, such as a diuretic for blood pressure or certain antibiotics... again if you're unsure call your pharmacist or doctor. As for the product itself. The body wash: I was concerned that the body was would have an unpleasant smell, but it has a nice "clean" smell that is decent enough for either males or females. Although its concentration is medical grade, a little word of advice from someone with a bit of training. Many may not find any benefit from the body wash alone. The reason for this is because the active ingredient doesn't stay on our skin long enough to produce any effect. Totally makes sense because we're WASHING it off. To get some benefit from this wash, using your hands, lather your affected areas up and DON'T RINSE. Let the body wash sit on your skin as you do your best to wash your non-kp areas with your regular soap, or wash your face, or... whatever it is you do in the shower. Once you've done that, now that the glycolic acid had time (though still minimal) to absorb into your skin, using your luffa add some physical exfoliation to your KP areas. Personally, I'm not convinced I'll buy the body wash again, but I wanted to try it out anyways despite what I already knew about "medical" body washes. The "lotion": The lotion is more of a cream then a lotion, in my opinion, and is fairly thick. But this is a good thing since creams tend to work better than lotions in all things dermatological. It lacks in smell, which I appreciate. I use this immediately after the shower. While still in the bathroom (because the extra humidity from the shower works in your favor) I towel off just enough to remove excess water, but not enough to completely dry my skin. I then apply the lotion ONLY to my KP areas and I completely rub the lotion into my skin. (For my non KP areas I use their other, less-concentrated, glycolic acid lotion, only because it makes my skin baby soft). Afterwards I will put on pajama pants and a long sleeve shirt that are a little snuggly and covers my KP areas. This just allow less drying of the skin and less evaporation of the lotion, thus allowing more absorption of the glycolic acid into the skin. Overall using this regimen I literally saw a significant decrease in roughness within 2-3 days and complete smoothness in some areas within a week. Other areas are still are a little bumpy but aren't bothersome enough for me to be dissatisfied. Other pointers: I only use this lotion after my showers at night. In the morning, I prefer their other, less concentrated, glycolic acid lotion because it's co-formulated with sunscreen and the reduced concentration reduces your chances of skin irritation while having the added benefit of gentle exfoliation regular lotion does not give. If this doesn't work for you, try their elbow and foot cream . Start off slow because the concentration AND the fact that its a cream can easily cause irritation. I would probably limit the cream to once every 2 weeks or once every week and eventually taper down to just the lotion once your KP is under control. ((Necessary Disclaimer: This review should not take place of getting medical advice or any medical advice you have received))

Worked for me
I have had a HORRIBLE case of KP my entire life. I tried many remedies I read about online (amlactin, coconut oil, eucerin, neurastrata, salicylic acid toners, everything!) Nothing worked. I was so frustrated and i figured it would never get better. I finally decided to buy this kit and nothing has worked better! I admit, my kp isn't entirely gone, but I knew well enough not to expect anything to alleviate it entirely. I will say that the redness is gone by about 70% and the bumps by about 95%. I had it the worst on my lower arms, and some on my upper arms. My upper arms are baby soft now, and my lower arms have never looked or felt better (though as I said, still not perfect). I will say that I have pretty sensitive skin as well and if I used it every day, or too often (more than once a day) I would get a minor burn like feeling and increased redness in some more delicate areas like the skin on the opposite of your elbow (elbow pit?) So normally I try to avoid this area. However, in general I didn't find this too harsh, though I would also recommend washing your hands after doing the routine and moisturizing them with hand cream or something, as mine got pretty sensitive and dry if I didn't. A word of caution too, when i first got it I used it way too much and washed/scrubbed my arms 3 times and used the lotion 3 times too. BAD idea. I got a pretty bad chemical burn there, but since this was obviously my fault, it doesn't affect my rating at all. I realize this product probably won't work for everyone, but for me it has worked WONDERS. I can hardly even imagine life without it.

Best for KP hands down!!!
I started developing Keratosis Rubra a few years ago on my upper arms. I used to use Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Body lotion and it worked wonders, but thanks a lot! Neutrogena decided to discontinue it. I wish they would make that product again. I have tried everything under the sun. Amlactin, Dermadoctor, Eucerin, etc. You name it, I tried it. It was getting so bad that I was extremely self-conscious wearing tank tops and short sleeve shirts. I was thinking about purchasing the kit since I had tried everything sun and made an initial dermatology appointment. The doctor actually recommended the KP kit along with some prescription topical ointment to combat the redness. It is much cheaper on Amazon and you can purchase the body wash separately (I always seem to run out of the wash more so than the lotion). Although my Keratosis isn't "cured', as there is no cure only treatment, my skin is much softer and smoother. As soon as I run out, the bumps and redness come right back. A couple of tips: 1. Do not use on broken or freshly shaved skin, it will burn, especially the lotion. 2. Make sure to use an SPF if going out in the sun. 3. I use the Dermadoctor Calm, Cool, and Corrected to combat the redness, but only sparingly, since it is $85 a bottle! Don't bother with Dermadoctor's KP kit, it is more expensive and doesn't work as well. 4. The lotion is very thick, so a little goes a long way. 5. At first, the creases of my arms were very dry and I got rough, red, itchy rashes there, so try to avoid using it in areas that are especially sensitive and do not have KP. I had to use cortizone cream/anti-itch oatmeal cream to get rid of the rash. After using the product for about a month and using it more sparingly in those areas, my skin adjusted and I have had no more occurrences. 6. In the winter, you might have to use an additional lotion or in shower body oil such as Aveeno in-shower body oil or Neutrogena sesame oil, because it does dry out your skin. 7. The product has also helped to smooth out areas not prone to KP and even helps with body breakouts.

Immediately shows a difference if used properly
I saw an immediate difference after the second time. Skin felt much smoother than before. I little drying so skin looked a little flaky, but softer and smoother. With continued use everyday you should notice a dramatic difference. For some reason, it worked better on my legs than on the back of my arms where I primarily am focusing on. My skin tends to feel a little itchy time to time from the dryness but I can't complain to much since I see less bumps. The bumps dramatically flatten out. You end up feeling no bumps at all after about seven to ten days of continued use. The down side is the following: it's kind of pricey, drying, and must be used continuously. Skip one day and you're pretty screwed. I'm not one to stick to things too long. The longest I've used it was for twenty days in a row. I've purchased this for several friends with minor to major keratosis and it's worked wonderfully for all of them. The ones with skin that's not too bad didn't need to used it as often once skin cleared. So jealous, theirs cleared pretty much 100%. They just use it every other or every few days to maintain it. I know it works much better if you use the glytone lotion right after you get out of the shower while you skin is still softer and able to absorb it. Without the lotion it does still work just not as quickly. The other downside for my case is that I can still see the dark spots. Can't feel them and they aren't pink or red but I can see them. Lighter purple to brown like freckles. Does clear up a lot though. Especially closer to the inner part of the arm. Try it out.

Runs out quickly
The body wash is really good because it doesn't dry out my skin however you run out of this soap pretty quickly. The quarter size amount that you use with the loofa isn't much so you'll have to use a moderate amount on your entire body. It's not very soapy either which isn't a problem it's just way too little per ounce for the about you're paying. The body lotion is good as well. It is thick and absorbs quickly into your skin. This didn't break my skin out at all which is great and my skin feels smoother. *Update* December 28, 2013 Do not use the lotion and soap together in sensitive or thin skin part of your body. I had chemical burns all around my chest. This was a gradual buildup and I didn't feel nor see my brown skin literally turning black until I looked in the mirror. This is not an exaggeration. This occurred a week after my first review of the combo. I had to use soothing sun burning lotion to help my skin to not burn or hurt anymore. It was after using the soothing sunburning gel that my skin began to heal and peel off to then reveal my natural skin color again. It took about 4 days for that to happen. This was not an issue for any other parts of by body. I didn't use this on my face so I cannot say whether it would've done the same. Again, do not use the lotion in sensitive or thin skin part of your body because you will get chemically burned. I would recommend moisturizing with a natural body butter that doesn't contain andy reactive chemicals in it or just use Olive Oil or Grape Seed Oil as a moisturizer in the sensitive or thin skin part of your body.

IT ACTUALLY WORKS!
I am overjoyed and shocked to be writing this review. I have battled KP since puberty. In my youth it wasn't so bad. My upper arms had light red and white bumps on them but it wasn't overly noticeable. After having my daughter they just got so much worse and it never went away. I tried everything. AmLactin helped a little. Retinoids helped a little. Salex 6% salicylic acid cream also helped...a little. Even a combination of the three listed only cleared it up about 50-60%. Plus some days it would look worse than others. I was excited by the positive feedback for this product and I decided to give it a go. This treatment is definitely the least expensive of everything I have tried thus far. Plus I have a wedding in October and am once again dreading my arms. So I've only been using this product for about a week and I am just shocked at how well it works. I would say it's almost 90% gone. The little whitehead looking marks are all but gone. My arms feel smoother to the touch than they have ever felt. The redness is also almost gone. I still have some minor red marks but they are flat and not raised at all. Plus they are so much lighter than they have ever been. I honestly can only see them when I look at them real close. The florescent lighting at work makes them ever so visible but nothing like before. I can't even explain in words how great this product is working. I will have no reason to be self-conscious in my bridesmaid dress come October. If you are struggling with KP just get this. I've used two prescription products (see earlier this write-up) in the past and they didn't do close to what Glytone is doing for me. I am now only using Glytone and nothing else. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to the inventor of this product. I feel like it has saved my arms. I know that sounds dramatic but others like me will understand where I am coming from.

The BEST Keratosis Pilaris treatment available!
I have always had extremely rough bumps on the backs of my arms since high school and it has progressively gotten worse as I've gotten older. I used Glytone in the past (a few years ago - when it was almost $20 cheaper on Amazon!) and it worked great back then, I just hated the price and thought there HAD to be something out there that gave results like this for less. I tried other things like KP Touch, Amlactin, etc. and none of those products worked. I gave in to the (now increased) price of this kit and as expected, after the first use of the Glytone body wash and moisturizer, my skin was noticeably smoother. I didn't notice a change in the formula, like another reviewer wrote. The moisturizer still stings when you first apply it, the body wash still looks and smells the same (just a different bottle)! The stinging goes down significantly after the first use, so don't let it deter you from using it. One warning though, if you have any cuts or scrapes on your skin and you apply this lotion, it WILL sting! I'm not sure about other users, but I think after you've used it daily for about a week, you can probably start using it every other day or once every few days and that's coming from someone who has pretty severe KP. It will also give you more for your $! I did end up subscribing to this kit on Amazon, because I'm not the best when it comes to reordering. It's slightly cheaper, but honestly I only subscribed for the convenience and not the few dollar price reduction...

Worked great for me, but you have to be patient (as with all other KP treatments)
I should probably mention that I have very sensitive skin, and it's prone to allergies. I tried a lot of lotions, including Amlactin (which also works, btw) but I was really fed up with the bumps (on my behind) and I just needed a serious solution so I decided to buy Glytone products. These really cleared up my ketosis pilaris, the key is to be patient and apply it every day. The shower gel foams up very well, although I didn't use the shower pouf every time (because I was being lazy) and it still seemed to work fine. I believe you need the pouf for exfoliation purposes, to expose the bumps to the gel. The first time I used the lotion, it stung a lot, like I was rubbing an open wound with alcohol. The second time I applied the lotion, it hurt less; the stinging feeling disappears as you apply the lotion. Honestly, the more it hurt, the better my skin got... You have to keep exfoliating and keep applying no matter how much it stings; believe me, it will get better. I usually apply the lotion at night after I get out of the shower. I don't wear anything that would cover up the area (I wear a short nightgown so that my skin can breathe). I don't apply it as often anymore, just when I feel some bumps form I take a shower, apply my lotion and the bumps disappear in 2 days. Unfortunately with KP, you have to keep treating because there isn't actually a cure. If you have been looking for an effective and strong treatment for your KP, this is it. I should also mention that I changed to hypoallergenic (free&clear) detergent for my clothes and stopped using anything that would further irritate my skin (lotions, creams with fragrance, harsh chemicals...)

Price changes
Using this for some skin trouble works well if used consistently Wonder why every time I purchase it the price goes up considerable? I will be looking elsewhere.

Body wash is not needed
I didn’t see any difference between using the lotion alone and using the lotion with the body wash. So I won’t recommend buying the kit. Just buy the lotion, it’s effective enough. My bumps are gone and skin became softer after finishing one bottle of this lotion.

It works!
Second time I have ordered this stuff and it totally works. I have never found any product other than this that takes away my red bumpy arms.
