Review: A good folding and powered wheelchair to own - I had been searching for a lightweight powered wheelchair for quite a while and decided to get Foldawheel a try. Received the product on Nov. 7, 2017. The following feedback was based on my occasional usage but not every day use. Pro: 1. Lightweight and easy to carry (but still need some help to move it inside of the car/trunk) 2. easy to fold and store in the trunk 3. long lasting battery (I had tried the product in several occasions, seems to me that it did not consume too much electricity under normal use). 4. nice looking 5. comfortable seating 6. easy to work with and operate Con: 1. main concern: the company seems does not have an U.S. based sales and service office/location. The product was shipped from Malaysia which took approximately one week to arrive (faster than I expected). Although the sales person response to my questions immediately (next day) but I am kind of hesitate (maybe worry) about the future product maintenance and after-sale service if this was handled oversea. 2. not able to lock the wheelchair if you need to have a quick leave. 3. I am walking with crutches. Therefore, accessories such as crutch holders would be nice (and maybe wheelchair bags as well. Like the one in the picture made it by myself). More accessories options would be better. To summarize this, in my own opinion, Foldawheel is a good product to have (I am glad I made the purchase). It would be better for the company to improve its customer services in U.S. and provide more accessories options in the future.
Review: Best wheelchair ever - We bought this wheelchair for my husband, who has MS and Lyme disease, and we couldn't be happier. We've had it now for 11 days, and it has met every expectation. I did a lot of research before deciding that this was the wheelchair that would meet our needs. Our house is small and not handicap-equipped, so options like the Hoveround power chairs or electric scooters and even a manual wheelchair would be too large and too wide to fit around our furniture and down our narrow bookshelf-lined hallways. We also needed something that I could get in and out of our Honda Civic on my own. When we were ready to place our order, it appeared that Wheelchair88 was experiencing some shipping problems. Or at least that's what the Smartchair people claimed and what one customer's review described. However, I contacted Wheelchair88 to ask what was going on, and got detailed answers about waiting a few days to order until they were able to re-stock their U.S. warehouse. Their sales people were very prompt in answering all my questions and providing timely information and immediate confirmation of our order once it was placed. Shipping was quick and we received the wheelchair seven days after placing the order. We had some questions subsequent to receiving the Foldawheel, and the Wheelchair88 staff were terrific about answering every single question without delay. The Foldawheel itself is a joy to use. Learning how to fold and unfold it takes a little bit of time. It isn't exactly intuitive, so you do need to watch the video a few times. But once you know what to do, it couldn't be easier or faster. The design of this wheelchair is just fantastic -- so streamlined and sporty looking. Everyone who has seen the chair has been so impressed by it. I was particularly pleased by little details like the fact that the wheels do not have lugnuts that extend out and could catch and scrape the walls when going down our narrow hallways (the Foldawheel j-u-s-t fits -- one inch wider and it wouldn't) and the provision of a toolkit in the roomy couch underneath the seat. The foot rest works SO MUCH better than the ones on conventional wheelchairs, folding easily out of the way when not in use and not getting in the way when my husband is getting in and out of the wheelchair, which is not the case when he's using the conventional wheelchairs. Also, the Foldawheel came FULLY CHARGED! So we could use it right out of the box and didn't have to wait hours for it to charge before trying it out for the first time. Best of all, my husband can zip around the house in it. He'd been using a borrowed electric scooter at the college where he teaches, but he can ditch that now for his beautiful yellow Foldawheel. It's a very comfortable, sturdy wheelchair that is actually attractive. The motor feels strong and powerful. The only potential problem that I can see for some American buyers is that it is clearly designed for the Asian physique. My husband, while not Asian, is 5-foot 11-inches and weighs less than 150 pounds, so the size is perfect for him, but we've been joking that it probably wouldn't work for a hulking Texan.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this wheelchair be legally stowed on commercial aircraft?**
A: Let me answer this, as I fly with the wheelchair weekly to different countries. Different countries and different airlines has different rules. Some wants you to take out the battery, and they might even tape the connection part. Not all the airline will ask, but the airline rules says you can hand carry 2 pcs of 160W batteries to the cabin. Well, please just tell them that the battery is 24V 6A (which makes it 144W) and print yourself a nice label, stick on the battery. Most of the airlines will just tell you to check-in the wheelchair without talking about the battery issue. Some will allow you to drive all the way to the plane gate and they will take it away from you just like a baby stroller. But we must avoid them from pulling the battery handle bar, as that will damage the battery socket at the other end. So I would suggest check-in the wheelchair at the check-in counter, and they normally take very good care of wheelchairs.

**Q: Is Smartchair that you mention in some of the questions below the same as EZ Lite Cruiser? Is it the same product?**
A: Seems the EZ Lite guy is putting up wrong information on our board with some other ID, and it is no point of debating, but in short, we are very different even though they want to say it is the same. Our controller, types of cells, charger, motor, tire material, accessories are all different. Only the frame looks the same, but again in different quality. So if you don't need the travel bag and don't use the storage bag underneath, would like to detach the joystick controller with the whole cable (meaning the cable just hanging in normal days), think that 12 degree of slope is enough.....then it is the same thing. Tired to debate with those people.

**Q: What is the weight capacity of this wheelchair? Thanks!**
A: It can carry up to 220 lbs or so but the seat size being small I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 180. Get a measuring-tape, sit down, measure from your butt's right to left sides, if it measures 20" and under this fits OK, if it's more then your butt will be off the seat and uncomfortable! It's best fit for a 120-130lbs rider. I'm 165lbs adult male and the seat feels a bit tight for me. But, if you're more concerned with utility and light weight than with space and comfort then this will do the job outdoors. Being real-wheel-drive I would not recommend this for in-house use. For in-house use only front-wheel and mid-wheel can get around through tight doors.

**Q: Is the price of $1,799.99 for the PW-999UL by wheelchair88 or for the PL001 Smartchair ? As far as I know there are some important differences.**
A: There are definitely major differences. We take 5 seconds to fold/open, but SmartChair needs at least 40 seconds because (1st, you need to spin the armrest 360 degrees both sides in order to fold the backrest down, then you must take out the handheld controller, turn the leg support on both sides downward. And to open up, you need to reverse the whole procedure.....Think about your situation if you need to fold and open it during hot sun or rain....Smartchair's armrest is the weak portion, because to fold the chair, it requires to turn 360 degree, plus it is not able to sustain whole body weight due to it only has one joint at the back rest. (We have 2 supporting joints)After folded, they are still thicker and taller than our unit, therefore needs more space for storage. (Our folded size 11.8" X 28" X 22.83") and (their unit folded size is 13" X 29.5" X 23.2". Further, I find smartchair is actually slightly bigger than what they claimed.Smartchair is 6.5 lbs heavier than Foldawheel. They come with 2 batteries, but the running distance is just same as our standard unit with 1 battery. And we are able to hold up to 2 batteries as an option (which allows Foldawheel to run about 30KM. Smartchair footrest is only able to flip outward, so users can either stand within the footrest or out of the footrest only. Since user cannot stand close to the wheelchair, therefore many users feel it is bothering them, especially for users having hard time to lift up their legs. Smartchair cannot stand by itself after folded, therefore when the floor is wet or dirty, it will be messy. Their seat cushion and backrest cannot be detached for washing. (what if it gets very bad smell?)Smartchair has a pair of slippery wheels, and their motor is a single gear type, therefore definitely cannot climb slopes like Foldawheel.

### ⭐ Buyer Beware!
*by L***L on November 19, 2015*

We now need service because the charger burnt out and possibly the battery. Have not been able to reach a technician, and their live chat has been offline since last Thursday, at least. Not sure if the company is going under, and we now have a chair that needs parts with no customer service. Not happy to say the least, and dealing with Malaysia has not been easy. Now faced with looking for a replacement. A lot of money to waste for less than a year and mom has no mobility until this is resolved. This chair has made an incredible difference in my 89 year old mom's life. She lives in an assisted living facility and no longer needs help getting around. I was able to take her to Costco the other day by easily folding the chair and putting it in my trunk. People are always amazed at it's size and maneuverability. We have had the chair for a couple of months with only minor issues-it surges forward a bit at times and when the foot rest is retracted, the hinge can bruise if you are not careful. However, it is wonderful to have a foot rest that can retract for ease of exit from the chair. Most chairs do not. We are very happy with this chair!
