A good folding and powered wheelchair to own
I had been searching for a lightweight powered wheelchair for quite a while and decided to get Foldawheel a try. Received the product on Nov. 7, 2017. The following feedback was based on my occasional usage but not every day use. Pro: 1. Lightweight and easy to carry (but still need some help to move it inside of the car/trunk) 2. easy to fold and store in the trunk 3. long lasting battery (I had tried the product in several occasions, seems to me that it did not consume too much electricity under normal use). 4. nice looking 5. comfortable seating 6. easy to work with and operate Con: 1. main concern: the company seems does not have an U.S. based sales and service office/location. The product was shipped from Malaysia which took approximately one week to arrive (faster than I expected). Although the sales person response to my questions immediately (next day) but I am kind of hesitate (maybe worry) about the future product maintenance and after-sale service if this was handled oversea. 2. not able to lock the wheelchair if you need to have a quick leave. 3. I am walking with crutches. Therefore, accessories such as crutch holders would be nice (and maybe wheelchair bags as well. Like the one in the picture made it by myself). More accessories options would be better. To summarize this, in my own opinion, Foldawheel is a good product to have (I am glad I made the purchase). It would be better for the company to improve its customer services in U.S. and provide more accessories options in the future.

Best wheelchair ever
We bought this wheelchair for my husband, who has MS and Lyme disease, and we couldn't be happier. We've had it now for 11 days, and it has met every expectation. I did a lot of research before deciding that this was the wheelchair that would meet our needs. Our house is small and not handicap-equipped, so options like the Hoveround power chairs or electric scooters and even a manual wheelchair would be too large and too wide to fit around our furniture and down our narrow bookshelf-lined hallways. We also needed something that I could get in and out of our Honda Civic on my own. When we were ready to place our order, it appeared that Wheelchair88 was experiencing some shipping problems. Or at least that's what the Smartchair people claimed and what one customer's review described. However, I contacted Wheelchair88 to ask what was going on, and got detailed answers about waiting a few days to order until they were able to re-stock their U.S. warehouse. Their sales people were very prompt in answering all my questions and providing timely information and immediate confirmation of our order once it was placed. Shipping was quick and we received the wheelchair seven days after placing the order. We had some questions subsequent to receiving the Foldawheel, and the Wheelchair88 staff were terrific about answering every single question without delay. The Foldawheel itself is a joy to use. Learning how to fold and unfold it takes a little bit of time. It isn't exactly intuitive, so you do need to watch the video a few times. But once you know what to do, it couldn't be easier or faster. The design of this wheelchair is just fantastic -- so streamlined and sporty looking. Everyone who has seen the chair has been so impressed by it. I was particularly pleased by little details like the fact that the wheels do not have lugnuts that extend out and could catch and scrape the walls when going down our narrow hallways (the Foldawheel j-u-s-t fits -- one inch wider and it wouldn't) and the provision of a toolkit in the roomy couch underneath the seat. The foot rest works SO MUCH better than the ones on conventional wheelchairs, folding easily out of the way when not in use and not getting in the way when my husband is getting in and out of the wheelchair, which is not the case when he's using the conventional wheelchairs. Also, the Foldawheel came FULLY CHARGED! So we could use it right out of the box and didn't have to wait hours for it to charge before trying it out for the first time. Best of all, my husband can zip around the house in it. He'd been using a borrowed electric scooter at the college where he teaches, but he can ditch that now for his beautiful yellow Foldawheel. It's a very comfortable, sturdy wheelchair that is actually attractive. The motor feels strong and powerful. The only potential problem that I can see for some American buyers is that it is clearly designed for the Asian physique. My husband, while not Asian, is 5-foot 11-inches and weighs less than 150 pounds, so the size is perfect for him, but we've been joking that it probably wouldn't work for a hulking Texan.

Buyer Beware!
We now need service because the charger burnt out and possibly the battery. Have not been able to reach a technician, and their live chat has been offline since last Thursday, at least. Not sure if the company is going under, and we now have a chair that needs parts with no customer service. Not happy to say the least, and dealing with Malaysia has not been easy. Now faced with looking for a replacement. A lot of money to waste for less than a year and mom has no mobility until this is resolved. This chair has made an incredible difference in my 89 year old mom's life. She lives in an assisted living facility and no longer needs help getting around. I was able to take her to Costco the other day by easily folding the chair and putting it in my trunk. People are always amazed at it's size and maneuverability. We have had the chair for a couple of months with only minor issues-it surges forward a bit at times and when the foot rest is retracted, the hinge can bruise if you are not careful. However, it is wonderful to have a foot rest that can retract for ease of exit from the chair. Most chairs do not. We are very happy with this chair!

Read updated review after couple of years
I am updating the reciew for this chair. We sold it to a friend who finds it very comfortable and easy to use. But most of all I am impressed with the seller for sending them free screws which we had lost. It didn't work for us because of lack of a belt but if you are alert and nimble enough it is a good product. I told the seller my husband is six feet tall and about 150 lbs. This product is too low for him and couple of days ago on a bumpy path he almost fell out of the chair because he is too tall for it and there is no safety belt with it. I read all the glowing reviews and believed them. I got a call from them weeks ago and when I told about the problem I was told they will call within 24 hours but never got a call back. I hate using it but once in while have to use it and couple of days ago when my husband almost fell out of the chair I was so disgusted. It cost almost $2500 so I expected way better. I have so much going on in my life and didn't need this extra pain. I heard on the news recently that some companies buy some good reviews. I am hoping this was not done here but I would like to find out. The foot rest is also at an awkward that he has to stand with both his feet together before sitting down or standing up which is very hard for disabled person to do.

Good Chair, bad delivery and hidden cost.
I got this wheelchair for my Mom having an artificial Knee, the other knee needs to be artificial and her right shoulder fell apart and thought this would be a great chair for house or out and about so I can take it with us in any vehicle. I went to work the day it was suppose to arrive and DHL sent a driver who was incapable of bringing the chair up 3 steps to put it in my house and when my Mom had to go down 3 back steps to open the side door to the breezeway the chair was drug across the ground to my breezeway instead of using a dolly or lifting the chair by hand, risking my $2500 chair by dragging it half way around my house. With that said, the chair is pretty easy to get open and closed. It is built really well although none of the connections look wet worthy so stay out of the rain if possible. The batteries don't lock into place so if someone pulls up on them the connection might get damaged if pulled hard enough. The push chair arms are a bit weak and being aluminum I don't have a lot of faith in tightening them much without damage so they stay in place but they do work well enough for smooth transport if you want to save on power or give the rider a break from running it. The pouch underneath has plenty of room for a purse and other items and even a folding cane that my Mom has. Overall the chair is an engineering marvel on how small it folds up which makes it be able to fit in about every vehicle. The control is great from my experience but inside my house on carpet I had to switch to level two on speed to get it to rotate. Being an electrician it felt like there wasn't enough power on the stepper motor which made it slip or feel like it was stripping out some gears but with level two on speed it moves around the house with ease. My house is small (1277 sq ft) and the chair even makes the turns into my small hallway. Although I will never turn around in my hallway with it, it gets through the house to the next room just fine even though that isn't what I bought it for. update: I got a bill from DHL for $28.60 which is the company that delivered the chair via the drag method and was told that customs isn't covered in the free delivery cost but wheelchair88 was still able to make up for it. I like my chair and wheelchair88 customer service but hated the delivery service by DHL.

Easy to fold and unfold.
It was quicker than I anticipated. It folded and unfolded easily. It pulled severely to the left and almost dumped me, but for the anti tip wheels. I liked that both batteries were engaged. It was easy to swap them. But for the pulling to one side, I would have kept it.

Foldawheel is a good concept
First I want to say I tried the other chair being sold that looks similar and I liked this one the best. Don't be fooled by a cheaper price, it is not the same chair as this model from Wheelchair88.com. Also, be sure to look at the maximum weight to be carried to be sure this chair will fit you well. I want to say that this chair works different from other wheelchairs you may be used to. It has a brushless motor which does make more noise than with the brushed motor and responds with the slightest touch. It is normal and don't be scared off because of the noise. It is a real powerhouse and goes very fast if you want it to. It works differently than a center wheel type brushed motor system and does not spin on a dime, yet responds in a very tight turn if you are willing to accept the difference in the chair's abilities. It is so compact and has many differences from the other chair being sold on Amazon that is similar. I liked this chair so much better. It is so much more sturdy I think. I need to use my chair only 80% and can walk some and this does make it efficient to be able to just put in the car and go when I am able to. No need to use a lift or other expensive adaptations for the most part depending on your level of disability. I am just new to this chair myself any questions I had the company personally responded favorably and explained everything to me. They were quite helpful and made sure I understood everything before hanging up the phone call. Also, they do not give a manual, because it is the company's view from what I understand, that the customer would learn better by watching the video rather than trying to read and maybe not comprehend what is said on the paper. All videos explain well I think and it helped me to see all the features I was needing help with.

Good Idea, But Needs Improvement
1. On all but the lowest settings the motors suddenly jerk forward while throwing the rider forward instead of gradually increasing the speed. 2. One of the 2 styles of armrests on this chair are very thin, round shape, and made of slippery plastic instead of flat and wide made of rubbery material. 3. The chair size is small, suitable for very small adults or a 10-12 year old child. Larger adults' body will stick out of seat and footrest would be too close. 4. Both connections/plugs (Joystick and battery cables) are breakable plastic. 5. The motors are noisy 6. The release rope, if not lubricated, will get stuck and requires hard pull to release. Finally I pulled only left to get it released. Chair probably needs regular lubrication which can get messy. 7. The chair doesn't come with any of the nice features like open-assist struts, the suspension front-wheels or the full double batteries. It comes with 1 real battery and 1 dummy battery. 8. Unlike front-wheel-drive chairs the Rear-wheel-drive is hard to steer in tight spaces, it makes wide turns like a bus and will get stuck to door trims. It's more suitable for straight-line outdoor rides like parks. 9. It does not unfold as easy as shown on youtube videos unless you purchase the open-assist struts and lubricate all joints. Also the extra battery and suspension front wheels all together cost additional $800-$1000. Overall, the folding idea, looks and weight are nice. It needs to be larger, motors and/or controller should be changed to eliminate jerking and I personally prefer front-wheel-drive for indoors. UPDATE: The battery lasts over 5 miles when full so 1 full charge lasts for days - I purchased mine with an an extra battery and suspension casters for $1600 including shipping, it shows this seller's heavy markup. The joystick buttons' plastic cover came out and I wrapped a clear tape around all buttons. Because my rollover rear wheels were pushed inside I fell from behind and hit my head on the ground and broke the thin aluminum seat-back-support when I hit a bump and front lifted. The weight is heavy enough that wheelchair users can't lift it but standing men and strong women can lift it. For those who are wondering, YES, you can take it on a plane but check it in with cargo and use airport wheelchairs until you reach destination. (and take 110V/220V converters with you)
