I would recommend
This is an excellent raw Puerh. As the description says, it is a classic blend. "7542" means it is a blend developed in 1975, the '4' refers to the size of the leaves (scale 1-9), and '2' references the factory in Yunnan, in this case Menghai. Use 5-grams of leaves per 100-ml of boiling water. I have seen two schools of thought on water temperature. One school says 185-203-degrees fahrenheit and another school says between 203-212-degrees. I used 205-degrees and was happy, but I might happily experiment. I found the liquor or soup to be floral with a nice texture and taste, and most enjoyable after a meal. I used a 100-ml Gaiwan, and got 10-brews from my session.Carefully pry the leaves from the cake to keep them as whole as possible. You can pry from the outside toward the center. Use a Puerh knife or a letter opener. Be careful and take your time. Put the selected leaves in a cup. Pour boiling water over the leaves and rinse for 4-5-seconds and dump (Rinsing the leaves to start hydration). Then pour boiling water over the leaves again and steep for 20 seconds and pour into vessel and into a cup to drink. Add 5-seconds to each subsequent brew. After pouring all the water out from each brewing, allow the leaves to be uncovered until the next brew. Do not be afraid to adjust the brew times to meet your personal taste requirements. The flavors unfold during each brew.Curious about raw Puerh, but remain doubtful about what to try? My personal opinion is that you will be pleased with this selection. I was very happy with the selection. I prefer Raw over Ripe Puerh, but that is me, others may have different opinions. I was very happy with the selection of this 357-gram cake. It was from year 2019 and had a 1902 designation, meaning it was the second batch of 2019.Taetea is a noted brand in China. They make many selections. This is a good portal for your initial experience. One person's point of view at least.

This pu erh tea has potential
First note, the 7542 is not a black tea, it is pu-erh tea, DO NOT use tasting notes of black tea to judge pu-her tea. It is meant to taste different. Go watch videos on sheng pu-erh by Mei Leaf on youtube to understand what is pu-erh tea.I purchased the 7542 large cake, the cake I received is produced in 2019. Tasting it in September 2023, it is good for the money. There are some Lao Ban Zhang smoky notes in the first few infusions when brewed very strongly (about 6-7 grams per 100 ml). And later it gets more and more gentle. The tea does respond well to different brewing methods. It works well in hongni/zhuni pot. I don't have a zini pot, so I can't comment on that. It have the drastically different notes like very young sheng pu erh cakes between brews (less than 2 years old). But it tastes great for the price and age. The body sensation feels warming on a cold and damp day. I understand now why this is the benchmark for sheng pu erh teas.If you spend more money, sure, you can get "better" cakes. But spending less money can lead to weirder tastes and body sensations. It is not an accurate representation of really young pu erh or aged pu erh cakes since it is only about 5 years old. But I think it's a worthwhile addition for someone who never tried it and already have a number of other cakes. It is also good for beginners pu erh drinker to try if you don't have the budget to buy some of the more reputable specific regions of pu erh teas. But if you can buy smaller quantities of other pu erh teas, try those first before buying a 300+gram cake.

Good Puer Flavor
Receive as expected and tea delivered in good condition as web image, the clear dark red tea soup generate very good flavor that may the real premium puer can have, it can't be tasted one molecule of earthy or soil, especially served with glass cup, even the product delivered was 2020 instead of 2018.

Disappointed and waste of money
For this price, I thought it's got to be good quality Pu-erh Tea. I should've believed the reviewers who gave one star. Authenticity? I can't tell but I can tell you it has no Pu-erh Tea taste at all. In fact, it taste like water. The one star I gave is for the packaging. Yes, I am very disappointed about this tea. If you are thinking about trying or buying this tea, don't! These tea are not worth this price!!!

No tea taste, just like color water
I am a long time Pu-erh tea drinker, this tea produced at 2017, so aged 5 years, for a "Ripe" Pur-erh tea it should be ok to drink, but I didn't have high expectation on this. Even I didn't expected a lot, but still kind of disappointed on this tea. I agree with other reviewer, it just a colored water and I don't recommended this product.Package - really nice package, I really love this.Color - chestnut red and brown, pretty good color.Taste - flat, dull, thin, more accurate, no taste at all.

Very good quality, clarity and flavor
The TAETEA “Ge Ge” Phoenix Ripe PUER is not the cheapest, but it is a very good value. If you don't mind the price, the tea quality will not let you down. I would buy it again.

Consistent good flavor
Nice fig-like flavor with, probably, the least fermentation "squid" of any ripe Pu-Erh I have had.
