These lightweight tactical Shorts are manufactured from cool, 6.5 oz. 65/35 polyester cotton rip-stop and are ideal for someone who lives or works in a warm climate or someplace where the summer months can present a serious uniform challenge. Just like Tru-Spec’s original 24-7 rip-stop pants, this lighter weight rip-stop pants are built for unequaled comfort, exceptional fit and amazing versatility. And they’re styled with crisp, contemporary good looks. These new 24-7 shorts offer a real hot weather alternative to our 24-7 pants and they’re every bit as versatile as the originals. Tru-Spec’s exclusive 24-7 rip-stop shorts are loosely based on the tactical uniform trousers preferred by many SWAT officers and other special operators – complete with ample storage for a myriad of professional and personal gear. The remarkable fit, comfort and striking good looks help take these shorts into completely new territory where no single-function tactical shorts have ever ventured. Special features include self-adjusting slider waist band without visible elastic gathers on the outside. No need for adjustable side tabs. Teflon coating for stain resistance and durability, extra deep front pockets, unique pocket design looks flat from the front, but bellowed side gusset expands to provide secure storage for your duty gear. Each cargo pocket has two internal magazine compartments, External cell phone pocket, 2 knife or accessory pockets, and Zipper fly with YKK brass zipper. Whether training on the range, in the field or for marine applications, these shorts give you all the advantages of our 24-7 pants but with shorts designed for hot weather applications. Also ideal for fire, EMS, and other personnel allowed to wear shorts.

Good shorts with a few design flaws
I would rate these 3.5 if allowed. So, at the same time I bought the Tru-Spec, I also bought a pair of 5.11 Taclite shorts (which I will review subsequently).First of all, they fit very well. Comfortable, if you ignore the hard sewing on the large tag in the back that tends to scratch your lower back. No real fix for that - the stitching is no joke, very sturdy. These shorts are built like a tank. Good stitching and welts across the entire shorts. Fabric is a bit stiff, but that is as it should be for tac shorts, they are certainly durable and are holding up well in the wash. The waterproofing is also very effective for day to day use. Enough belt loops, and welted and spaced very well. Now, the design flaws. The pockets, while a bit deeper (and only a bit) than 5.11 and Propper shorts, are just oddly placed, not intuitive, and not inclined to give you the versatility of EDC as you might want. The so-called "knife" pockets are so narrow and not deep that you might - and I stress "might" - be able to carry an extremely slim and short stiletto type knife or switchblade. No folder or large, effective knife is going to fit here, and certainly not my Cold Steel repertoire. In fact, my small EDC flashlight doesn't even fit in that pocket. So, that makes me choose whether or not to carry my firearm (Ruger LCP II with extra mag in a DeSantis Nemesis in-pocket holster) in the main side pocket (I'm right-handed) or put my knife in the corner. That's a no-brainer. Firearm all day. But that relegates me to putting a knife and/or flashlight in one of the lower pockets, where they are much more difficult to draw/use, and take more time, owing to the ridiculously "crispy" velcro on the pockets. Which I would agree is great quality and designed to last. But for quickness of obtaining your gear, it's going to be an impediment. The pocket placement is likewise curious, and after wearing them over a dozen times, I have yet to figure out a configuration of gear that makes sense, is easily accessible, and makes me feel 100% secure. I mean, they WILL store some stuff, but it just is not intuitive and fluid in any way.Other posters have stated that the cell pocket on these shorts is too shallow, and I echo that criticism.Overall, a very well-made short that is sturdy and durable. But with some issues that you will need to look into before you spend $50 or thereabouts for a pair of tac shorts. I'd suggest going somewhere where you can look at them and try them on so you can gauge your level of comfort before you buy.

Shorts are different across colors
I bought 1 pair of coyote tru-spec 24-7 original tac shorts and they were perfect. They had all the pockets I ever wanted on the left side which is very hard to find. I only have a left hand that works so I put everything into the left side pockets. The first pair I ordered had the extra phone pocket just above/behind the large left cargo pocket.I ordered the exact same shorts in black and blue, they arrived, I tried them on and washed them and when I put them on I realized they were both missing the phone pocket! Very dissapointed in the inconsistency. If you are ordering these based off the pictures for specific pockets, don't expect them to match previously ordered shorts of the same name.Sounds like I'm being picky but my phone screens get scratched by the other items I put in the large cargo pocket so I hate mixing my phone into the junk pocket. Going to attempt to return the 2 extra pairs even though they are washed.

So good, I bought another pair.
Awesome shorts. Well made and they do repel water and oil-based liquids. (to a degree). They are very comfortable. I do has some small things I would have preferred they change, but I am not dinging the product because it works as described. Here are the changes I would rather see.1. Reinforced section on the bottom of the front pocket when you clip your folder to.(your knife) I know they have a dedicated pocket to use to hold your knife or whatever, but it's positioned a little behind the front pants pocket and the rear wallet pocket. Also, the front outer cellphone/magazine pocket needs to be a little deeper to better secure larger capacity magazines. My 10 rd mags fit perfectly, but my 17 rd mags not so well. It will hold them, but you have to really pull the pocket flap over to secure the Velcro and it just barely secures. The mag pockets located inside the side cargo pockets do hold the 17 rd mags and also 19 rd mags. The outer phone/magazine pocket will hold two 10 rd mags easily, as do the inner pockets - holding 9 mm mags. There are two inner pockets inside each side cargo pocket. They will each hold a standard 30 rd mag (Magpul or regular mil-spec metal) for an AR platform. I cannot speak for larger calibers. This goes for the pistol mag pockets as well, I carry 9 mm mags in them. These shorts seem to be very well made, they are comfortable. My rigger belts which are pretty wide, fit very nicely. The only thing I will say is that I haven't really put these shorts through the paces with all the pockets loaded with mags. That's not a normal configuration for me. Depending on where I am going I may carry up to 2 pistol mags, but if I need to carry 4 AR magazines, I will kit up. and use a vest. I just say this because adding the extra weight of 4 AR mags and a couple pistol mags could stress the seams and stitching. These shorts would probably hold up to that kind of abuse, but I cant address that specifically. It's probably convenient for range use, but I wouldn't really want magazines slapping me on my outer knees when I'm running around. My bottom line is that for the money I saved buying these vs. 5.11's which I own several of the taclite pants, these are a great buy. The 5.11 have the reinforced pockets that I like, but I don't like them so much to pay $10 more bucks. So for what I paid, I am completely satisfied and in fact bought another pair. One piece of advice: Be sure to turn your shorts inside out before washing them. Don't wash in hot water, do dry on high heat. Wash them in cold water, and dry on low. (same if you have waterproof/rip stop pants) Oh and don't use fabric softeners on them. Besides the obvious fact that they make your clothes smell, I think it can foul up the waterproofing qualities. Because if you've been in the field before, you know that "spring time fresh Downy" doesn't smell like any springtime I've ever deployed to.The pics have notes on them so you can know what I had in the pocket. I didn't test any 17 or 19 rd mags because they did not fit the way I would want them to, so I won't wear.

Great product
Its my second pair. They are hard wearing, comfortable and have the same structure as the 24x7 long trousers. So easy to transpose where you put things

Perfect!
Awesome! Absolutely tailored to perfection. Everything feels comfortable, hugs my legs better than I expected. My previous cargo’s usually are more on the baggier side but these hang perfect. Only thing I miss from my other non tru-spec pairs that I wish these had were the front slit pockets for my cellphone. Besides that I would buy these over and over again.

Excelente calidad
La tela resistente, pero ligera y las costuras muy fuertes. Ya voy a comprarlos por segunda vez. A lo mejor un poco ajustados, pero su mecanismo de ajuste se adapta perfecto para que no te aprieten.

Very comfy but..
I really love them the pockets are really deep and are the same on aech side witch I like cause im left handed and generaly the knife/accesory pockets are only on the right. The only complaint that I have is that the right internal magasine compartement is lacking stitching int the middle whitch makes it a single large pocket instead of two small ones. I dont care about it that much cause I dont carry mags in my pockets
