Pelican 1740 Case With Foam (Desert Tan)

Ive had this for 3 or 4 years now. Ive used it for airline travel, and its moved several times. Never a problem with it. Wheels still work well. All the latches are perfect. Locks on both sides is huge for security.

We got this case for our trade show booth. We've got two popup stands that we ship regularly to shows and as such, we needed a hardened case that we could repeatedly ship with.The outside of the case is tough, thick plastic material of some sort. I believe that the case has a waterproof rating but we're hopefully never going to find out anything about that. The clasps are very tough and the wheels are very sturdy. We're using zip ties to secure it as well during transit and there's a place for a lock if you so desire. There's a side compartment where you can put your personal information but I believe that UPS and/or Fedex will see it as a challenge and break it. Hence, we've put our company information strategically in several places on the outside of the case.The inside of the case came with plenty of foam so we could make whatever shape we wanted with the foam. We simply removed most of the foam for our purposes. The lid also has a foam lining as well. Overall, very sturdy inside.We've shipped it twice. Loaded up, it's about 70 pounds. The handle feels very sturdy and I hope that the case continues to serve us well. I believe that UPS and Fedex like to drop kick items like this so it's already got some decent scuff marks on it.

this case is amazing. i purchased it with the pick n pluck foam and was able to customize it to fit exactly what i needed it to. Nothing moves in. transport. seal is great. lockable. just a great case. i would purchase again

One heck of a gun case extremely waterproof shockproof, I’m able to carry 2 long guns and accessories. And best of all it was pick an pluck. Fits my firearms perfect looks very professionally done. very reasonable price. Looking to purchase more Pelican cases. I would say I’m a happy customer an highly recommend pelican cases.

I have purchased 4 in the last decade. These cases have for the most part been through the full elements anything could be exposed to. Stored in outdoor sheds, back of pickup truck beds and never failed. I store precious, fragile items and transport from Washington State, Texas, to North Carolina. I am not one to treat these with kid gloves and they have held the test over the decade. yes expensive but if you are worried about cost get a cardboard box. These will last a long time. Hinges, rubber seals, and locks still on good condition. Highly recommend to store those high dollar items you value.

Fits a 42" Rifle bag just fine. Perfect for how I plan to use the container. With the additional gear on top of the rifle bag I probably could have gone without the foam inserts. But I'd rather have it and not need it.

Heavy duty protection but lightweight to travel with. Using this to store and transport glassware and it feels very secure.

I thought this case would be the solution to my problem for long guns, but I was disappointed to say the least. This is proof that you must not "rush" when buying a product as I did. I am not faulting the product, it is definitely the best case you will find and worth the money. My issues is that it does not fit long rifles such as a Remington 700 series or even an M1A Rifle, they are simply too long! I should have measured those weapons first and then I would have known and likely not bought it. However, it will serve a purpose as it easy accommodates my M4, .308 Colt AR-10, and Benelli shotgun (among other "normal" sized rifles). There is plenty of room to spare for various other hand guns as well as equipment one might take to the range and not have to use supplemental bags for, etc. My only recommendation is that there is no "long handle" on the case; there are only two; one down at each end of the case. These of course are in a great location, but there should have been a handle installed in the front of the case that way one can lift it from the center and not only drag it out from the front or back. However, I see the justification, Pelican probably figures that two people will lift the case out one at each end not taking into consideration those of us that are strong enough to do it solo. So, why does this cause a problem for a single person carry? Because when you go to remove from the bed of the truck the case slams down on the ground when you are solo and unloading by yourself. Obviously, I don't have the wing span of Michael Phelps so grasping each end from top to bottom when lifting out is not an option. That said, this product receives four stars; now install a damn handling in the front (LOL). Other than that, the case is a beast and the shipping was excellent, can't find case like it at any firearm dealer or main stream store in my area that's for sure!
