A you probably already know, New Balance makes many different models of cross trainers and walking shoes, but relatively few of them are available in a 2E or "wide" width. It can also be difficult finding any athletic shoes that are conservative enough to wear with casual business attire. Conservative in the sense of the word that they come relatively unadorned by flashy trim which adds nothing to the comfort or the performance of the shoe. Also worth mentioning here is the little bit of extra padded support under and around the ankle bone. This can make an enormous difference when you are required to do a great deal of walking, such as sight-seeing (think theme parks), or even just everyday shopping (home improvement centers and department stores). Finally, if you do not employ these shoes on a motorized treadmill, which are notorious for wearing out shoes prematurely, you may be pleasantly surprised to discover just exactly how long they last.

Unlike the 608 Cross training model, you need to wear them a day or two for maximum comfort. Only minor quibble, they sort of squeak a bit when walking, even after breaking in. - Very noticeably in the corridors at work, not so much outside. Out of the box, they're very noisy, but settle down a lot, and become as comfortable as the 608s I usually buy. For reference, 608s are comfortable out of the box new, with no break-in necessary. The 577s are all leather uppers, without the fabrick transition seams the 608 uses, making them more suitable for casual office wearing.

Recent purchases of NB shoes have not measured up in quality to those I've purchased in the past. The most annoying flaw has been the tongue which was too short and tying the knot ended up on my foot instead of the tongue. The tongue on this shoe is well done.

This shoe was as described and fills the need I had for a casual sneaker. I normally wear a 9.5 M and this was spot on for my foot. I looked at the reviews and the size chart and trusted the reviews posted. Comfortable out of the box. Now I well see how durable they are.

After almost a year of use, the material of the shoe is uncomfortable, especially for driving and for jobs that require standing for a long time. My dad now only uses it to be at home. I do not recommend it at all because of the material it is. very soft and easily deformed. The size was correct but the quality of the materials leaves a lot to be desired.

Love these shoes. Been wearing them for 20+ years. Have over a dozen pairs of new Balance walkers, SL-1 last, in my closet. Great support. May not be good for all people... feet vary, but they've been very good for me. Leather breathes and I've been wearing variants of the 80x and 577 models with great success. Regret that the 577 V1 model is no longer made in beige/bone with laces.

I had purchased a pair of these shoes at a local shoe store. I like them so much I ordered two more pair via Amazon. These shoes are specially comfortable for people who need an extra wide fit and to allow orthotics to be placed in them.

New Balance shoes and boots have never let me down... I can't say the same for some other brands.

Men’s shoes are typically a D width. We needed and ordered a B width but it didn’t seem to fit any better than the D so are returning.

These hurt my feet. I have tender feet and they are too hard on themWish I had returned right away.
