But you can convert with a calculator. **Q: How does the counter work? Ex., to measure out 6ft what should the 4-digit [0000] counter read from left to right? About 12ft? 60 ft? o100 ft?** A: It works in tenths of a foot, so for six feet, it would read 60. The decimal point numbers are white with black lettering and the feet numbers are the opposite - black with white lettering. Twelve feet wold read 120 - again the 12 colors are opposite the 0 color. Makes it real hard to screw up. Bear in mind that if you use it in a closed space e.g. a bedroom, you have to account for 1/2 the wheel diameter at each end of the measure as the measurement is from the bottom of the wheel where it contacts with the floor. I used to measure thousands of houses with the wheels. I now use the laser based measures - they are cheaper and much faster to use. **Q: How does this 4-digit counter work? Ex., to measure out 6ft what should the [0000] counter read from left to right? It progressively reached a point of literally not locking at all. I have resorted to using electrical tape to tape up the joint and leaving it expanded. I used it this way for a few months and then the handle broke from the wheel. I used epoxy to repair. Overall still satisfied given what I paid for it, but drop from 4 stars to 3 due to the failures. ***Original Review Below*** ~BACKGROUND~ I purchased this wheel tape measure to measure long distances over various types of terrain outdoor and indoor (warehouse). ~PROS~ - Easy to read Odometer - Expands and collapses for easy storage - Twisting the handle locks the expansion sections in place - Rubber wheel maintains solid contact with surfaces ~CONS~ - No way to lock the handle in place when it is collapsed, so it has a tendency to expand on its own - Smells terrible when first removed from the box. Very strong rubber odor. Several months later the rubber stills smells. ~CONCLUSION~ Overall I am pleased with the walking wheel tape measure.
