Wasn't sure about this! Not an expensive knife when compared to some Japanese knives, but the reviews were pretty good, not that you can always rely on that. However, I am really, very very, happy, despite the difficulity a 79 year old had, trying o prove I was over 18 ;-). I am no expert but it is really sharp, best knife I own, and will be looking at buying a smaller verion soon.

Very sharp good quality knife. stays shark even when cutting frozen beef joint for stew. the pattern looks like Damascus but its not. cut my self almost straight away due to me not respecting the sharpness. this knife is definitely high carbon as it stays sharp for so long. would recommend for anyone who knows how to use a knife, as its very sharp.
