As good as the vet said it was
Our rescue dog has several issues for which we saw a pet physical therapist. She recommended this heat pack to help relieve pain before we do the exercises she showed us. It is nice because of the washable cover, which gets pretty covered in hair after a number of uses. We found that microwaving it on 80% power works well, as we have a 1200 watt unit. Doing it for 2 1/2 minutes on full power made it bulge alarmingly and we were afraid it would burst. I haven't used it on myself, as I get enough hair without doing so, but am sure it would work very well for the humans for whom it was made! We sure didn't expect to need a pet PT when we adopted this big guy, but discovered too late the extent he had been injured by his previous monster owners. I'm glad we've found a product which gives him relief, as he's a very happy and loving four year old puppy. I like the strap which can hold it in place. Also, we were told that even if a dog ate the gel or whatever is inside it, it wouldn't hurt him.

It is not flexible!!!
I was delighted to be able to buy another flexible SmartTemp compress. I have used them for years and haven't been able to find a new one locally. This was such a disappointment because, when cooled sufficiently to use, it is hard as a rock and not flexible at all. The outside cover is the same as the ones I purchased in the past, but the compress is totally different. I can get better ones at Dollar Tree. SmartTemp, please help!

Overpriced
Amazon charged us $25.00 for this item. It arrived with an Ocean State Job Lot (a remainder/closeout business) price sticker for $8.00 still on the box. The actual item is smaller than advertised. We feel this item was grossly overpriced by Amazon. It is an unsubstantial little thing that was never worth $25.00.We already have a much larger SmartTemp (Kaz) hot/cold pad which is terrific, and was fairly priced. Our window for return closed on January 31, 2022, but we had not had a chance to examine the this pad until now (2/6/23). So we are stuck with it.

It works well, very happy. DON’T take in carry on luggage at airport. Mine was confiscated
Used for complete knee replacement. It works very well. Just a word of warning. I made the mistake of taking it on a flight in my carry on luggage. I had pre board & a cane. It did not matter that I needed it. DO NOT take on carry on. You will loose it. The airlines took my ice pack, I kept the sleeve. He told me if it was frozen I could keep it. That did not make sense. But you don’t want to argue or create a scene. If I wanted to pay the $25.00 for check in I could. Other than that, it works well. Very happy with it.

Not the 9"x14" packs I thought I was ordering
They simply weren't the 9x14 reusable packs I bought before and thought I was ordering again- instead they were 6"x 10" which was not made clear in the item write up.

Replacement
I was happy to find a replacement. This one is a bit smaller, but otherwise exactly like the compress I've used over and over again. I use it for heat therapy and definitely prefer it to a heating pad.
