Excellent stapler
Heavy enough stapler that it won't break like plastic ones. Very good quality and price. Love the pink color too.

Excellent Stapler, and Milton-approved!
I got one of these for my wife for Christmas mostly as a joke because she's been working from home ever since the whole lockdown thing started, and I thought it would brighten up her workspace. She had a crummy stapler, and we had bought her a new one to replace it at a local chain store a while back. And I hadn't heard any complaints, so really the red Swingline was intended as a humorous gift. However, once she started using it, she thanked me profusely because as it turns out, the other new stapler we'd bought for her was not nearly as good. And unbeknownst to me, she disliked it and was having trouble with it. So this new red Swingline was not just a joke, it was a fantastic upgrade for her.The things that make this stapler functionally better than many staplers are:It's easy to load. The top-loading mechanism is fast and sure. You don't have to fumble with it.The stapling is positive and sure. It will staple through a thicker stack of sheets than many other staplers can handle.Lower force required to staple something.Smooth, well-shaped top that is comfortable for your hand when you want to really try stapling something thick! The surface of the plate that goes below the paper, and which intercepts the tips of the staples and directs them into the curved shape is very hard and smooth. And the shapes of the depressions that bend the staples over are well-designed.This seems like a trivial characteristic, but it's vital. With the shapes of these indentations being "correct", and the surface being very hard and smooth, the staples do not dig into the metal plate. Instead, they are smoothly deflected and then guided around to form the back of the finished staple.Staples need to have sharp points to penetrate the paper easily, but then those sharp points will try to dig into that bottom plate. So it is important that the points intersect with the depressions at an angle that causes them to glance off easily to begin the bending, and not try to dig into the metal. And of course, that surface must be extremely hard so that the points don't dig in or cause the smooth surface to wear or erode. The result of this being well-designed and made of good materials is that the stapling process is much smoother, with less friction, and far less tendency for the staple to bend improperly and crumple rather than form a proper finished staple shape. This seems trivial, but it is not. This stapler staples easily through more sheets, and doesn't cause the staples to fail the way a lower-quality stapler is prone to do. And it should last longer. So while the red Swingline is a humorous meme or icon, the fact is that this truly is a first-rate stapler. No wonder Milton did not want to give up his red Swingline!

It's...a stapler!
Amazon really seems to want me to write a review for this. So, here we go.It's a stapler. It attaches two or more pieces of paper together with a piece of metal. Now I've used staplers that a manager hands you and goes into his office to laugh at you while this junky thing tries to push a staple barely through just a couple sheets of paper. I've used staplers that are sturdy, could bind a decent stack of paper, and should definitely not be used to whap your little brother in the back of the head when he gets a smart mouth. I still blame him for some of my learning disabilities. This is among the sturdier staplers. And it's also great if your a fan of the movie "Office Space."

Solid Stapler
The red is vibrant. The product feels very sturdy. Haven't had any jamming issues yet. Exactly what I want from a stapler.

Red stapler gets noticed.
Sturdy metal. Heavy design. Works well Getting noticed and complimented at the office. I chose red for a reason. If borrowed it will be returned. Everyone else has black.

VERY inconsistent staple function! Horrible customer service!
I bought two of these Swingline 747 Iconic Desktop Staplers in 2022 because they were rated highly, but saw a few comments about the staples not being consistently pressed. Meaning one side is correct while the other side edge of the staple protrudes through the paper. This results in a finger scratch if you rub across the staple in the paper. Both Swingline staplers did this, and there is no way to "fix" it. I was NOT happy because my previous Swingline stapler purchased in 2021 was great. The issue appears to be the base plate that you swivel depending on the staple width/type you need. For this reason, I DO NOT recommend this stapler. As far as Swingline customer service, it is by far the WORSE I have ever experienced. In early 2023 I contacted them to complain about the irregular staple quality and see if there was a fix for it. Literally after I finished my initial 10 second statement, the agent interrupted me and told me "no worries", I'll send you two free replacements. Mind you, she didn't have my name nor my address nor did she ask for the order number. ????? I knew that this wasn't going to go well. So now it's 6 months later and I've received NOTHING! As expected.I'm done with Swingline staplers. Yesterday I ordered a Max Flat-Clinch Black Standard Stapler from Amazon, got it delivered early this morning, and while it's not as "pretty" as the Swingline, it WORKS perfect. It's a shame that Swingline has cheapened the product to make it staple paper inconsistently. Also a shame that their customer service outright lies to customers regarding replacement of defective products. If the warrantee expired or for some other reason I wasn't entitled to a fix/replacement, then they should state that. But don't lie and tell the customer you're sending out free replacements when you don't even have the address to send them to. As I said above, I literally had talked to the agent for less than 10 seconds when she interrupted me and said she would send me two free replacements. Seems that that is their easy way to handle a customer complaint without actually doing anything.
