Learning Qlik Sense: The Official Guide

This a concisely written text for those starting out with Qlik Sense. It covers the full range of topics that a new user would require, but goes into no depth with any of them. I suspect this is because the Developers guide is coming (and a cookbook no doubt!). When I saw who the authors were I was expecting something a little more in depth and enlightening. However, I am happy to have it sit on my shelf as the first guide to the most exciting BI solution available today. The four stars is more for my love of the product than this light, well written book.

It skips around too much and wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

If you want to learn about Qlik Sense this book is excellent! It teaches you the concepts of Qlik Sense, how and why to create each of the many visualizations, how to quickly load data, as well as creating stories, publishing to streams, and administering your site. There are also a number of business cases discussed to show how to release the true power of Qlik Sense.

Excellent product. According to expectations.

I was expecting something like QlikView 11 for developers or QlikView Server and Publisher. But this one, isn't a good option, even free videos at qlik website are awesome compared with this book. So sad :(

Great book

This book is certainly not for everybody. If you have experience with Qlikview then most likely you don't want this book. If you're looking for an in-depth developer guide for Qlik Sense then this is not the book for you. This book is an introduction to Qlik Sense.If you are curious about Qlik Sense because you heard about it and want to know more or if you simply want keep track of what's happening in the Business Intelligence / Data Discovery world then this book will show you what Qlik Sense is, what it's capable of and where it fits in the BI / DD jungle.If you're new to Qlik Sense and want to learn to how to create information apps with Qlik Sense then with this book you'll learn the basics of creating Qlik Sense documents. This book covers pretty much all features of Qlik Sense, so you'll get an excellent overview and a basic skill set that you can build on yourself. This book will get you up to speed quickly and on community.qlik.com you'll find a helpful community and lots of resources to expand your knowledge.

I revised my original (two-star) review in January 2016, after seeing "Qlik Sense Cookbook" by Hand and Kharpate. "Learning Qlik Sense" did not look good even when its only competition was a hacky book by Mark O'Donovan. Now, both are irrelevant.PS. Revisited Qlik Sense recently and ... lost an hour's work due to "Failed to get app because there is no app loaded" error - meaning a permanently corrupted Qlik Sense file. Google the error message and see the "happened to me too!" sobs of other developers, and silence from Qlik Sense staff. Tableau all the way!
