What more could you ask for?!
What can I say, but holy cow, how cool is this thing!!! I recently purchased a Zoom multi-channel for my mobile podcast and was thinking I'd like a connector that just picks up ambient sound because it's automotive related. I didn't realize what I was getting. Zone controlled, stereo sound, easily connected and a shotgun mic that's literally better than any professional shotgun mic I've ever purchased. I can use this literally everywhere! I almost said, where have you been all my life! Not to mention the Zoom does have quality sound and does its job well. Highly recommended and ultimately overqualified for whatever you plan to use it for.

This thing produces sound that blows mind.
This thing produces sound that blows minds. I know it's a bit expensive but you won't regret that purchase. I never use the stereo mic that my zoom H8 came with eversince I received this one. Not because the original mic is bad but the ssh-6 is much better at reducing background noise, wind noise, it is louder and produce much less hissing sound. The XYH-6 mic is good too though, away from unwanted noise it performs, I would say... well above average.

Excellent Stereo Shotgun Mic — Perfect for the Zoom H6
I just received the Zoom SSH-6 stereo shotgun mic and am impressed with the feel and build quality. Audio sounds great and provides good directivity. It's a tad longer than the mono SGH-6 shotgun mic, but you get the Mid/Side stereo capability. If you record in RAW mode, you can change the mixdown in post production to vary between mono and wider stereo. This mic gives you the best of both worlds. Nice addition to the Zoom H6. I believe it will also fit the Zoom H5, but you should verify that before purchase. One caution: if you buy the 3rd-party SKB 3I-1209-4-H6B heavy-duty case for the Zoom H6, it doesn't fit this mic due to the extra length. SKB should increase the cutout size in their case, which would allow it fit both Zoom shotgun mics. There appears to be space for this.

Great microphone but poor connection to the audio recorder
The microphone works very well. I have just been using it as a shotgun microphone by reducing the input from the sides. It wasn't obvious how to do that with the Zoom H5 but I eventually stumbled on how to do that with the Zoom H5 menu. And while it is very easy to attach the microhone to the Zoom H5, it also comes off with with barely a bump. I use this recorder+microphone in the field so I am actively carrying it around and it does get bumped a lot.

The quality of sound
Who needs a boom mic when you can have the Zoom? Yeah its just a tad heavy with the H6. This works great with my H6 and I love the ability to bring in the side mics and mix my levels before recording. The sound seems very clear, not bass heavy and not "in a box" range of sound but what I wanted is, for it to project stereo images with good accuracy in transparency. I think this comes very close to not sounding like it is a mic.

So, So, Close, But No Cigar
I love Zoom products and I own a half-dozen of their semi-pro audio gear. I had such high hopes for this shotgun mic capsule, but it's just too noisy for the spoken-word/interview dialog and field use I'd intended. It's not terribly noisy, but more so than the stock X/Y capsule that the Zoom H6 came with. I do however give the Zoom SSH-6 great credit for being the single most versatile mic capsule that Zoom makes. If you could only have one mic in your kit, this will give you decent X/Y capabilities, mid-side, and shotgun.

Excellent mic!!
I've been looking for a mic like this. Finally! Sound is crisp and clear. No need to put a mic on your subject, just point this at them. Would be perfect inside. Outside will pick up sounds beyond subject. Just wait for random outdoor noise to pass if you're in a busy outdoor area. If you're outdoor a lav mic might be better to avoid picking up surrounding noise. Even at maybe 8ft away you will get clear quality sound. Excellent for interview/speaking style videos or recordings. Good outside with limited background noise.

I bought this when I had my Zoom H5 and was going to utilize it mainly as a vlogging set-up. It works great, although, it can be cumbersome to use in a run and gun vlogging set-up because of having to attach this to the H5, then using a hotshoe connector for the recorder to attach to the camera, then turning them both on, then connecting a 3.5 wire for them to work together, etc. If you have a bit more time to set-up, this mic in combination with a Zoom recorder will give you great results. I've used it for weddings, events, interviews, YouTube and for projects to get through grad school. The ability to get ambient sound with the side mics or to isolate your subject directly in front of you all in one device is muy bueno.

I love this mic! I've tested it against other mics I use and this has a better noise floor. Absolutely great for dialogue and ambience recording.

La marca Zoom es mi favorita y este micrófono es probablemente el mejor de toda la gama de las cápsulas.

I just ordered and received an SSH-6, despite the reviews that mention the high noise-floor. This is a high-gain/long reach shotgun design, and I can see how this would work very well for the reviewer that is using it for his symphony recordings (25 yards from the orchestra pit). If the gain is cranked up beyond 3 or 4, the 'scrambled eggs' being fried come up....if the gain is pushed higher...there are more artifacts that appear....and here's the kicker: As soon as the music starts, or you speak into the mic, or some other sound source comes on... all those artifacts near-instantly drop out of range. This is a characteristic of a high-gain, self-regulating FET preamp, with a fast response-time(in both directions). The internal preamp stage automatically cranks to YIKES, with a silent room, but it also automagikkly squelches to almost nothing, a hot-second after some sound from the room appears. Once the orchestra starts playing...the music doesn't really stop until after the thundering applauds. The same can be said for interviews, including the proper social distancing. The ability to use/not-use L-R ambient levels in post, or highlight just the sharp-focus shotgun feed, is a huge boost, and impossible with a single focus (normal) shotgun. Just My Humble Opinion (JMHO)
